Hey eppie, great comment. About that last paragraph. I wonder who is more willing to play that "we are crazier than you are" card? The former male cheerleader and cokehead (bush0? or the last chief of the KGB (vladimir "i AM russia" Putin).... scary stuff

honestly, i think the world's gonna break as follows. Russia-China-Iran. US-Europe-Israel, and a smattering of countries such as Saudi Arabia, India and the majority of South America will play the two sides off each other to their benefit. We are returning to the bipolar days of the Cold War, but with a whole new set of players.

There are a lot of 'ifs' there. But I find it hard to believe that Iran and Russia haven't already been quietly strengthening military ties and ditto Iran and China. I don't see how Russia and China can just sit back while the US military takes over another, even more giant, chunk of their respective backyards. With Israel, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Egypt, Jordan, Iraq, Iran, Pakistan, Afganistan, South Korea, North Korea, India, etc., increasingly in the back pocket of the US/EU/Nato/NWO complex, China and Russia would be forced to accept inclusion in the NWO empire. Are they willing to do that? Maybe they are, considering the alternative: loss of wealth and possible WW3 (the US administration seems to be getting a lot of mileage out of the old "we're crazier than you are" tactic).

On the other hand, I think it's more likely that both China and Russia are simply playing both sides. They have been kindof going along with US hostility to Iran, while dragging their feet. Who's to say they haven't been quietly supporting Iran militarily more than they've been letting on? Doesn't it seem logical to suppose they would?

If they HAVE been, the Georgia crisis gives Russia a very strong case for increasing that connection and for building up the Shanghai Association as a real counterbalance to the NWO complex, not just a putative counterbalance. There would be no better way to do that than by openly challenging the US's hegemony in the Persian Gulf.

Then again, the "we are crazier than you are" card that the Bush administration seems to play so effectively is a hard one to ignore, when backed by nukes aplenty. Whatever else one can say about George W. Bush, one can say this: he gives the best impression of a guy who really WOULD push the red button than any world leader of any major country since, well, since Hitler I'd say.

The US is not so pure at heart as it would seem. Look at how Unocal stacked Bush's administration. Rice, Karzai and Khlalizad UN Ambassador and since to Iraq as well. The oil company had been negotiating with the Taliban for a trans- Afghan pipeline before 9/11. Not to mention APAIC and NeoCon PNAC participation, Cheney,,Rumsfeld, Perle, Feith and the rest of the crowd most of whom got fired for disrespect as in so much for Bush Loyalism. So as not to indicate a problem in dealing with Iranians the US prepares its jet powered drones to do the dirty work with Israel held on a leash., No wonder the Russian Bear awakes from a long hibernation. What of Obama and McCain? War or Peace? Neither has a satisfactory solution.
