Sep. 15, 2012: At about 6pm, a march comprising several hundred protesters left Washington Square Park heading south on Broadway to Zuccotti Park (Liberty Square). Along Broadway on at least two instances NYPD officers lunged into the crowd grabbing and arresting protesters, some seemingly targeted, others just caught in the shuffle. Near the beginning of this video, a “white shirt” NYPD officer is seen slamming a protester to the ground and seemingly throwing a few punches at this person. Meanwhile, NYPD had apparently thrown a petite woman either onto the ground or into a store window. She is seen here, injured up against the wall, in need of an ambulance. At least 8 protesters were arrested during the entire march.

Occupy Town Square, Washington Square Park, September 15, 2012. The beginning of Occupy Wall Street’s Anniversary weekend. All was peaceful for hours before this show of force by NYPD, a harbinger of more extreme heavyhandedness to come later in the evening.

(Hastily) shot and edited by Atiq Zabinski.
