CUTV met with journalist Chris Hedges on the occasion of the publication of La Mort de l’Élite Progressiste, French translation of The Death of the Liberal Class, by Lux Éditeur. We asked him about the Occupy movement and what should follow, as well as the relationship conservative America might have with any possible revolution. We spoke about his comments on the Black Bloc and radical violent groups, cause of much debate in the past year.
Produced by Tim Powell.
Chris Hedges on Occupy, Black Bloc, conservatives and more.
Chris Hedges spent two decades as a foreign reporter covering wars in Latin America, Africa, Europe and the Middle East. His latest books are Days of Destruction, Days of Revolt, Death of the Liberal Class, and The World as It Is: Dispatches on the Myth of Human Progress.

Everything man-made and marketable emanates from Corporations. But nature doesn’t nor does its spirituality. The sky and stars don’t emanate from corporations, nor does life itself, at least not yet. It seems to me, Mr. Hedges, for a writer as brilliant as yourself, that you have descended into a rather dystopian and depressive state of mind. Go for a walk in the woods, smell the fall air, its freshness. See the beauty of the changing season. This is not from corporations. It’s from the infinite and it is our gift and duty to love and protect it and in turn be sheltered and nourished by it.
