Perhaps they are trying to protect the chain of military command from scrutiny in this case that might otherwise be used as Bush’s “loyalists” in case they need to declare martial law later to fulfill what Paul Craig Roberts warns us about now in terms of a fascist takeover. Maybe they realize if they are forced to remove all of the people involved in this mess, that they will lose that tight control of the military they need to pull such a coup off.
