  1. Still no news in American journalism.

Crowley is interesting in a dull, channel surfing sort of way. “The president has been hiding behind Petraeus for a long time.” Gosh! Even a corporate crap news agency can occasionally say the obvious.

As for the over-stretched American military, it’s a weak argument. The American casualty rate in Iraq is gloriously small. Soldiers’ fatigue and stress of military families notwithstanding, this is a comparatively safe war.

The really good news here is that our military’s “Kill ’em all, and let God sort ’em out” mind has been checked. No longer do our military personnel or citizens assume that a standing president knows shit from shineola or cares at all about doing the right thing.

The bad news is, still, that no one is talking about the benefit to the military-industrial stockholders and weapons manufacturers, who are the ONLY people to benefit from this war. Let corporate-crap news agencies discuss that, and I’ll think they have anything to say. At all.

See, kids, we only need one well timed and planned “terrorist” attack on American soil, with or without CIA help, and America will see a new flowering of fascism.

Otherwise, no. There’s still no news on the air.

  2. Generals don’t write reports.

This story is a product of faux journalism.
Of course it was buried somewhere in the LA Times (?). I’m surprised it was printed at all.

The most compelling feature here is the Marcus Aurelius. The implication is that if you know anything about history, you are horrified by Bush. It is a message that needs repeating, to the TV and football mindset. THAT is the surprise here. That some reported thought THAT far.

Otherwise, they are correct in their discussion of Dem strategy. The Dems are unwilling to rock the boat and risk a backlash to a shia revolution, the partitioning of Iraq, and bitch of all bitches, higher gass prices, which is exactly what this planet needs.

They are correct too in their implication that the Dems and Reps are in bed. Or maybe I’m just inferring. Anyway, point is:

THE MOST COMPELLING REASON TO ABANDON IRAQ IMMEDIATELY IS not pacifist hand-wringing or even the nightmarish feeding of the military-industrial complex that this war is, but TO COLLAPSE THE OIL ECONOMY. DO IT NOW. KILL BIG OIL. DO IT NOW.

  3. Namiste Lo,

Wow it is so wild and yet doesn’t surprise me that General Petraeus isn’t going to be allowed to give his own assessment of what is really going on over in Iraq and what should be done that the Bush administration after saying time in again we are waiting to see what General Petraeus has to say and wanting to quite him has already written the answers out for him and for congress and for the American people. How outrageous, I surer hope that this will be the straw that broke the camels back and this congress does something about it …

    Oh my Buddha how outrageous

Oh our great Congress and Senate of the US defenders of the Constitution…Where have you been? OH yeah off on a month long Vacation!!!

Due to our Majority led Congress who decided right before they left on vacation to sign away our bill of rights and the US Constitution which they swore to uphold we no longer have the rights we used to have. We no longer have the checks and balances to the fear of propaganda of the evil terrorist regime. Yes we can Trust our Congress and we can also trust Roberto Gonzalez with our freedom of speech and the head of the CIA they make good judgments I am sure as a court or judge might make in any civil matter or might that be considered under national security? I feel so violated!!!!

Sorry we no longer have our civil liberties as they were given away recently,

Vote for Kucinich is the only one who has a plan to end WTO and NAFTA and ending the war, universal health care for everyone!!!

No More Nukes, No More Nukes, No More Nukes, No More Nukes, No More Nukes, No More Nukes,

    Namiste and peace,

    William
