  1. Also from Sharon:

Hi Folks, Sharon from OC here. I was at the City Council Mtg. last night. To correct the record – HB DID NOT VOTE on whether to adopt an Impeachment Resolution – Local Activists led by Lynda Hernandez (activisto estrella!)simply organized a group of concerned citizens to speak in the Public Comments Section of the Meeting. (Lynda had previously sent the City Council a letter asking that they include Impeach in it’s agenda and asked them to consider adopting a resolution similar to the one recently passed in W. Hollywood. A resident from nearby Santa Ana who attended yesterday’s meeting has agreed to do the same thing in THAT city. Lynda and others we’ve met through Impeachment groups (lagunaimpeachmentcampaign.org bcimpeach.com, LANIC, MeetUps, Kucinich.us, the Enough! movement,)and friends and local activists can come together to do this in EACH AND EVERY CITY! It’s supposed to be DIY government in the US anyway, isn’t it? Here’s a link to the resolution which can be adapted for YOUR city and also a copy of Lynda’s reminder to people. We had some press coverage, also. More to come… A Reminder to please join us at the Huntington Beach City Chambers Monday, Aug. 6th @ 6 PM 2000 Main St. Huntington Beach, CA 92648 A group of concerned citizens will be presenting a City Impeach Resolution for the consideration of the Huntington Beach City Council. Signatures from Huntington Beach residents are being collected and will be presented tomorrow night as well. Please join us to lend support or speak. We’ll be asking one of the council members to add to the agenda. If passed, Huntington Beach would be the first city in Orange County to pass a resolution to impeach President George W. Bush and Vice President Richard Cheney. West Hollywood passed an impeach resolution on July 16, 2007 to become the 80th city in the U.S. and the first in Southern California. To see the text of resolution passed, please visit: http://www.bcimpeach.com you can download and adapt to your own city by substituting the name of our city for West Hollywood. In addition, there is a national impeachment petition that can be downloaded from a new site: http://www.ocimpeachmentsite.org The City Council have taken an oath to protect the Constitution of the United States from foreign and domestic threat. It’s time for citizen’s to demand that our elected officials take a courageous stand. Hope to see you there! Thanks! Lynda Hernandez

  2. From Sharon:

Here was the original rally – mostly inspired by Dr. Henry Duke, Green Party, who was incensed by Bush’s commutation of Scooter Libby’s sentence. And me, someone who is growing in my activism, helped created a flyer. Lynda posted it on IndyMedia, and through emails, phone calls, etc. we orgainzed the following rally! (Dr. Duke spent his own money purchasing Impeachment I Patriotic signs, and someone else donated 10,000 peaches! Fortunately, we only picked up about 10 boxes. These were handed out during the rally. Here’s an article re: this rally: http://cbs2.com/topstories/local_story_204182458.html
