As Nation Marks Sixth 9/11 Anniversary, a Look at “Why America is Losing the War on Terror”
Today marks the sixth anniversary of the 9/11 attacks that killed nearly 3,000 people. In the aftermath of the attacks, the Bush administration launched the so-called “war on terror.” Is the world a safer place as a result? We speak with Georgetown law professor David Cole, co-author of “Less Safe, Less Free: Why America Is Losing the War on Terror.”

Petraeus Praises “Surge” Results, Warns Against Quick Withdrawal From Iraq
General David Petraeus, President Bush’s top war commander in Iraq, testified Monday in what has been described as the most anticipated Congressional testimony by a general since the Vietnam War. He praised the results of the so-called surge and called for current U.S. troop levels to continue well into next year. We play excerpts of the hearing and get reaction from journalist Rick Rowley.
EXCLUSIVE Report From Iraq: U.S. Fueling Sectarian Civil War in Anbar by Funding Former Insurgents to Fight Al Qaeda
When Gen. David Petraeus spoke of success stories in Iraq, he largely focused on the situation in Anbar province where former Sunni insurgents are now fighting Al Qaeda alongside U.S. troops. In a U.S. broadcast exclusive, we air a report from Anbar by independent filmmaker Rick Rowley that exposes how the U.S. is fueling sectarian civil war in Iraq by funding the former Sunni insurgents.
This video contains images depicting the reality and horror of war and should only be viewed by a mature audience.

At a rally in Washington, D.C., in Lafayette Park, (just north of the White House), on Sept. 11, 2007, Dave Lindorff, a popular author and investigative reporter, shared his views about the Iraq War, 9/11, the U.S. Constitution, the impeachment of George W. Bush and Dick Cheney, the sad state of the Democratic Party and the media; and that bizarre story about the B-52 airplane, with the six fully armed cruise missile, (to which nuclear warheads are attached), supposedly just riding aimlessly around the country, in violation of federal law and international Treaties. Mr. Lindorff wondered if the Nukes weren’t being prepared for the Middle East, (Iran maybe), or somebody else, but who? Why isn’t the media asking questions about this matter, he asked. He added: “This wasn’t any accident!” Check out his site: http://www.thiscantbehappening.net/.
The Lafayette Park rally was sponsored by the DC 9/11 for Truth organization, check out, http://www.dc911truth.org/. Matt Sullivan served as the moderator for the event. Today’s affair combined the efforts of the 9/11 for Truth Movement and representatives from the Peace Movement working to bring the Bush-Cheney Gang to justice.
Six years after 9/11, Keith looks at how we got in the mess we are in today, with Al Qaida as strong as ever, men and women dying in Iraq. He looks at those responsible and finds that very few if any have suffered any consequences for the evil deeds they have done.
It’s Joe Liebermann. Honestly, is there anybody that you can think of who has morphed into one of the most despicable political creatures we’ve ever seen?
