MIKE GRAVEL: I love my country, and I love the human race. And I want to see a change made in the leadership of our country so we can do more to protect the human race….With respect to my country going to war when there’s no reason to go to war, killing human beings, I’m ashamed of this.

  3. Extraordinary guy. The FairTax(.org) is pivotal precisely because the tax system is geared more toward “social engineering” than accountable fiscal management. It is so powerful that 53% of the lobbyists in Washington are there because of the tax code. What’s more, taxing business represents a hidden tax to the consumer – so they’re doing twice, and more when the FICA (the most regressive tax ever was) and multiple taxation are taken into account. Of all of Gravel’s positions, this one BY FAR will have the farthest reaching effects on putting America on the right course.
