  1. I suppose the esteemed Dr. Savage stated it most succinctly: Liberalism is a Mental Disorder. And it truly is. The overall philosophy of collectivism, elitism, communism, Marxism, socialism is irrefutably one of abject failure, leaving the populace as despots, and the government as the final authority, forever. This has been proven throughout human history time and again, but now the concept has been indoctrinated into the mainstream of American society to such an extent that the government treats us as livestock, rather than thinking individuals, of which I am one.

For those of you who want to live in a socialist/Marxist/communist society, I say move to Argentina, Venezuela, or Cuba for six months, then tell us “Right Wing Nutjobs” how wonderful it really is.

You’ll be crying for the REAL America in a month, mark my words.

  3. amen Rob. that was the most intelligent rebuttal i’ve seen. basically said everything i wanted to say to Andrew Austin. way to do your homework.

    RonPaul2008

  4. Andrew Austin,

Your are WILDLY incorrect in some of your assertions.

    – Opposes public education, advocating the abolition of the Department of Education, which would imperil the education of millions of poor and minority children.

Wrong. Paul believes that education should be handled at the state and local levels – there is no constitutional mandate that the FEDERAL government should provide education – that responsibility is left with the states.

    – Unequivocally opposes a woman’s right to control her reproductive capacity. Believes in the criminalization of medical procedures used to this end. This is a fundamentally anti-woman position.

Wrong again. While Paul has clearly stated that he personally is pro-life, he has clearly stated that abortion is an issue that needs to be handled on a state level.

    – Opposes stem-cell research, an emerging science that can potentially save millions of people suffering and death from painful and often fatal diseases.

And wrong again. Paul hasn’t stated that he’s against stem cell research, he just doesn’t believe that the Federal government should pay for it. I don’t believe he has suggested any laws be passed preventing the research from being conducted by private enterprise.

    – Opposes gay marriage. In fact, supports law that states that marriage can only be between a man and woman.

Wrong yet again. Paul considers marriage to be a contract between two willing parties, and has clearly stated that no laws should be passed that inhibit parties from forming voluntary contracts.

    – Opposes critical social programs poor people desperately need for survival. He wants to radically shrink the size of government, harming the interests and welfare of the millions of families the capitalist economy fails.

Welfare and “social programs” are legalized theft. What else would you call it when you take money from one group of people under threat of prison (taxes) and give it to another group of people? In any case, Paul has repeatedly stated that he has a plan that would allow those people that have become dependent to still get the help they need while minimizing the impact on the taxpayers by cutting foreign spending. He is not suggesting that anyone should be thrown out on the streets.

    – Opposes regulating capitalism, which includes those corporations that pollute, maintain dangerous and disease-causing working conditions, and produce unsafe products. Paul would take from workers the only institution powerful enough to protect their safety and welfare: the federal government.

“Regulated captialism” is an oxymoron. By definition, a free market must be allowed to be exactly what it is – free. The government hasn’t stopped many dangerous and even deadly products from being produced – in fact, the federal government still gives subsidies to tobacco farmers. When allowed to operate in a free market, private consumer groups would have plenty of power through the legal system to keep corporations in check, and consumers always have the ability to vote with their wallets in a free market, since free markets create and encourage competition. As far as safe working conditions, labor unions have done far more than the government ever could in that regard. Paul has stated that he supports labor unions, as long as they are strictly voluntary associations and not forced upon individuals as a condition of employment in a specific industry or for a specific employer.

I could continue to refute your points, but I think that most everyone that reads your drivel will recognize it for what it is – the ravings of an uninformed liberal who is too blind to realize that a little goverment “protection” isn’t worth giving up your freedoms.

  5. Andrew, there are so many misrepresentations and disinformation in your tirade against Ron Paul that it would take me too long to correct them all. I urge all reading this to look up Ron Paul for yourself, give him a good objective 10 minute listen, and come to your own conclusions about the man. Ron Paul is just what America needs right now.

Ron Paul 2008. Freedom, peace, prosperity.

  6. Thanks for the link and additional info, Andrew, I’ll check out the audio.

I listened to the whole interview. Very interesting comments from Paul. Didn’t hear what he said about the death penalty though. The man doing the interview said something about it, but then they focussed on abortion as murder. I strongly disagree with him on his views on homosexuality and gays in the military.

  7. The American View

Follow the link. He clearly supports the death penalty. He opposes it at the federal level, not because he opposes the death penalty per se, but because he doesn’t trust the federal government. But at the state level, he states, and I quote, “capital punishment is a deserving penalty for those who commit crime.”

This comes on the heels of his argument that abortion is murder. Remember, Paul is a Christian extremist. For him, God’s word is law. In the interview he agrees that God comes first and the Constitution comes second. Therefore, if abortion is murder, and if murder is punishable by death, then at the state level abortion is punishable by death.

  8. Paul’s positions:

    – Opposes public education, advocating the abolition of the Department of Education, which would imperil the education of millions of poor and minority children.

    – Unequivocally opposes a woman’s right to control her reproductive capacity. Believes in the criminalization of medical procedures used to this end. This is a fundamentally anti-woman position.

    – Opposes stem-cell research, an emerging science that can potentially save millions of people suffering and death from painful and often fatal diseases.

    – Opposes gay marriage. In fact, supports law that states that marriage can only be between a man and woman.

    – Opposes same-sex adoption, depriving children the opportunity to have supportive parents who love them.

    – Supports state criminalization of private sexual conduct between consenting adults. That’s right. He condemned the US Supreme Court for overturning Texas’ Homoxexual Control Act. Paul is clearly anti-gay and lesbian.

    – Does not believe in an inherent right to privacy in the Constitution and said so on in the House of Representatives during his condemnation of the US Supreme Court protecting homosexuals from Texas’ medieval Homosexual persecution laws.

    – Opposes the separation of church and state. Paul believes in compelling non-Christians to accept the “fact” that the United States is a “Christian nation.” He said so in the House of Representatives.

    – Opposes critical social programs poor people desperately need for survival. He wants to radically shrink the size of government, harming the interests and welfare of the millions of families the capitalist economy fails.

    – Supports the planned destruction of Social Security. By allowing young workers to opt out of the system, Paul’s plan will bankrupt Social Security. It is a right-wing Republican strategy called “starve the beast.” (Interesting way to describe a program that keeps the elderly from starving.)

    – Not only opposes universal health care, but opposes all government health care programs, jeapordizing the health of millions of poor and near-poor families, as well as the elderly.

    – Opposes regulating capitalism, which includes those corporations that pollute, maintain dangerous and disease-causing working conditions, and produce unsafe products. Paul would take from workers the only institution powerful enough to protect their safety and welfare: the federal government.

    – Wants to turn the US postal service over to private business. This is line with his general desire to privatize our government, i.e., turn our government over to the corporations. Corporations have too much control over our government as it is. Paul wants to go straight off into fascism (rule by corporation).

    – Opposes net neutrality. That’s right, he opposes protecting the internet as a free and democratic system. He wants to turn it over completely to corporate control.

    – Opposes civil rights legislation, not only affirmative action, but even the 1964 Civil Rights Act and the 1965 Voting Rights Act. He condemned the Civil Rights Act of 1964 in a speech before Congress, calling it racist. And he voted against renewing the 1965 Voting Rights Act. On racial matters, Paul is another George C. Wallace.

    – He is pro-death penalty. Says he’s “pro-life” yet supports state killing.

    – Opposes abolition of the electoral college, a system that allows sparsely populate states to determine the fate of the majority of US citizens.

If you love freedom and democracy, you don’t let this fascist get anywhere near the White House. Wake up, people. You are simply not paying attention. Connect the dots. The man is an authoritarian reactionary wingnut.

It’s true what they say about the sheeple. People have been battered by anti-politics for so long that they are incapable of tying together a man’s positions so as to make the full picture present. People who support Ron Paul and say they are progressive are deeply falsely conscious. Unless you agree with Ron Paul’s positions as stated above, you are an ignoramus for supporting him. Sorry, but it’s true. You’ve been had.

  9. Lo,
Yes, his position on the issues are different,
