Ron Paul Statement on The New Republic Article Regarding Old Newsletters

ICH
08/01/07 ARLINGTON, Va.
(
Business Wire)

In response to an article published by The New Republic, Ron Paul issued the following statement:

“The quotations in The New Republic article are not mine and do not represent what I believe or have ever believed. I have never uttered such words and denounce such small-minded thoughts.

“In fact, I have always agreed with Martin Luther King, Jr. that we should only be concerned with the content of a person’s character, not the color of their skin. As I stated on the floor of the U.S. House on April 20, 1999: ‘I rise in great respect for the courage and high ideals of Rosa Parks who stood steadfastly for the rights of individuals against unjust laws and oppressive governmental policies.’

“This story is old news and has been rehashed for over a decade. It’s once again being resurrected for obvious political reasons on the day of the New Hampshire primary.

“When I was out of Congress and practicing medicine full-time, a newsletter was published under my name that I did not edit. Several writers contributed to the product. For over a decade, I have publically taken moral responsibility for not paying closer attention to what went out under my name.”

One man’s private, sole source company programs 81% of the election in New Hampshire, 100% in Connecticut, almost all of Massachusetts and most of Vermont. Never before seen video of the under-the-radar elections contractor John Silvestro as he tangles with master security expert Harri Hursti.

NH Primary: Pre-Election Polls Wildly Different Than Results Announced for Clinton/Obama

Other Pre-Election Numbers, For Republicans and Rest of Dems, Nearly Dead on the Money

UPDATED several times at end of article, and still developing with new updates…

I’m not sure why Obama would have conceded so soon, given the virtually inexplicable turn of events in New Hampshire tonight.

What’s going on here? Before proceeding, I recommend you read the third section of the post I just ran an hour or so ago, concerning the way the ballots are counted in New Hampshire, largely on Diebold optical-scan voting systems, wholly controlled and programmed by a very very bad company named LHS Associates.

Those Diebold op-scan machines are the exact same ones that were hacked in the HBO documentary, Hacking Democracy. See the previous report, as I recommend, which also includes a video of that hack, and footage of the guy who runs LHS Associates.

That said, the the pre-election pollster’s numbers (NOTE: that’s not Exit Polls, but Pre-Election Polls!) were dead-on, for the most part, on the Republican side, as well as on the Democratic side. Except in the do-or-die (for Hillary) Clinton v. Obama race. I’m watching MSNBC right now, and they all seem to agree that the results, for the moment, defy explanation.

I concur.

How to Rig an Election: Convicted Former GOP Operative Details 2002 New Hampshire Phone Jamming Scheme

We speak with former Republican operative Allen Raymond, who served time in federal prison for jamming phone lines of the New Hampshire Democratic Party in 2002 to block a Democratic get-out-the-vote campaign. Raymond has come out with a tell-all book called How to Rig an Election: Confessions of a Republican Operative. In addition to the phone-jamming scheme, Raymond details other Republican tactics such as the use of scripted, phony automated phone messages to try to play on white voters’ racial prejudices in a 2000 New Jersey congressional race. MANCHESTER, N.H.—Anti-war Democrat Dennis Kucinich said the surprise result of the New Hampshire presidential primary shows the race is far from over.

“I’m the only one who voted against the war, who voted against funding the war 100 percent of the time,” he said as Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton won Tuesday’s Democratic primary and Sen. John McCain the Republican race.

Clinton and McCain win US primary

BBC

Democratic White House hopeful Hillary Clinton defied pundits and pollsters by winning New Hampshire’s primary, beating rival Barack Obama.

John McCain made his own remarkable political comeback with a convincing win in the Republican contest.

Observers say it seems to have been a record-breaking turnout, with some half a million people having cast ballots.

Candidates are aiming to build momentum before more than 20 states hold polls on 5 February, known as Super Tuesday.

New York Senator Clinton, 60, told a cheering crowd of supporters: “Over the last week I listened to you and in the process I found my own voice. I felt like we all spoke from our hearts and I am so gratified that you responded.”

Republican race up for grabs after McCain victory

5am GMT / 12am ET

The Republican race for the White House was blown wide open last night by a convincing win from John McCain in the New Hampshire primary.

McCain, whose campaign was almost bankrupted last summer and who was languishing in the polls in November, pushed Mitt Romney into second place.

He then went down to tell supporters: “My friends, you know I’m past the age when I can claim the noun ‘kid’, no matter what adjective precedes it. But tonight, we’ve sure showed them what a comeback looks like.”
