George Bush, the US president, has urged Palestinians and Israelis to move beyond United Nations resolutions that “didn’t work in the past”.

Unimplemented UN resolutions include a right of return for Palestinian refugees and the dismantling of Israeli settlements.

The move is likely to draw the ire of Palestinians, while the UN says it stands by its resolutions.

  1. “Unimplemented UN resolutions include a right of return for Palestinian refugees and the dismantling of Israeli settlements.”

what about UN resolutions which created state of Israel and which still ignored by those who demand a right to return?
does it bother you anyhow or it is a question to Al Jazeera as well ?

  2. I’ll give you two resolutions.

A/RES/194 (III) 11 December 1948 “Resolves that the refugees wishing to return to their homes and live at peace with their neighbours should be permitted to do so at the earliest practicable date, and that compensation should be paid for the property of those choosing not to return and for loss of or damage to property which, under principles of international law or in equity, should be made good by the Governments or authorities responsible.”

A/RES/3236 (XXIX) 22 November 1974 “Reaffirms also the inalienable right of the Palestinians to return to their homes and property from which they have been displaced and uprooted, and calls for their return.”
