it’s 3:23 in the morning
and I’m awake
because my great great grandchildren
won’t let me sleep
my great great grandchildren
ask me in dreams
what did you do while the planet was plundered?
what did you do when the earth was unraveling?

surely you did something
when the seasons started failing?

as the mammals, reptiles, birds were all dying?

did you fill the streets with protest
when democracy was stolen?

what did you do
once
you
knew?

  2. This guy is awesome. I saw a video a couple of years ago called “Behind Every Terrorist There Is A Bush” and he recited this spoken word poetry. Another guy sang some great songs but I can’t remember his name. There were a couple of comedians as well. Great show. The words Drew spoke run through my head regularly because it is often 3:23 in the morning and my concern for the world our children and grandchildren will inherit torments me.

  3. Powerful spoken word! I’m often up at 323am for the very same reasons; my great, great grandchildren won’t let me sleep!
    peace,
