Bush is humiliated by being called to task on his failed policies. Yes, I’m sure he had a bad week, but deservedly so. Between the Supreme Court and Dennis Kucinich, I’m sure he’s feeling poorly, but who cares? Seven more months of this idiot, and he’s history. Congratulations to the Supreme Court for listening to the American people, at last, and restoring the rule of law. Justice Kennedy has regained my respect with his most excellent opinion, and I am equally grateful to the other Justices who showed they have respect for our laws.
This is a great day for American constitutionalism. It is shocking, however, that four-ninths of the United States Supreme Court find compelling justification to imprison innocent men (i.e., those who might be exonerated at trial) for life without a constitutionally recognized judicial hearing.
My take on this case is posted here.
