Guardian report says US commanders consulted president before Friday’s missile attacks

LAHORE/ISLAMABAD: US President Barack Obama had given the go-ahead for Friday’s twin US missile strikes against suspected Al Qaeda men in the Tribal Areas, The Guardian reported on Saturday.

“Four days after assuming the presidency, he was consulted by US commanders before they launched the two attacks,” said a report on the newspaper’s website.

“The strikes will help Obama portray himself as a leader who, though ready to shift the balance of American power towards diplomacy, is not afraid of military action,” The Guardian reported.

    • Had to edit out their report as the AP requires payment for any and all excerpts from their stories. You can add a link to it if you’d like to. I tend to not use them as much as possible because of their policy.

“Same as it ever was,” comes to mind once again.

How incredibly sad that civilians are still dying by our war machine.

  10. You’ve posted plenty!
    Links link…

I propose we make an amendment, This president as ‘commander in chief’ idea is a fundamental flaw in an otherwise excellent document.

Consider that even Nazi Germany had someone else in charge of the armed forces, the ‘Reichsheer‘. It’s when Hitler took over the role in ’38, things went from very bad to unbelievably yet worse…

The commander in chief of the Canadian armed forces looks a whole bunch saner right now than our Obomba (O Canada!)

    • Thanks for the link, Natureboy. Wish I had the time to post it.

I could NOT vote for Obama precisely because of his pro-war agenda, unfortunately he did receive many votes from other peaceniks. Not sure how they were fooled, but fooled they were.
