“The Way We Were and What We Are Becoming” with financial economist and historian, Dr. Michael Hudson.  We begin with an analysis of the continuing bailout of insurance giant AIG and Monday’s stock market selloff; price and debt deflation; the two sectors of the economy; two definitions of ‘free markets’; the classical economists; revolution from the right and the former Soviet states; the threat of war; IMF/World Bank resurgence; the dollar versus the euro; analogies to Rome, neo-feudalism.

  8. ..and ..

and yet at the rate we are going it transparancy is not demanded and insisted on BY but OF us!!!! Robbed of something that gets turned on and against us. Not the first time. It is not the corporations that get nailed in Michael Hudson’s sense (see a piece he did in 2006, still my fave) but individuals who may know how to direct their money towards places with higher aims than peace through violence.

  9. proud of my link to MH, no doubt, admiration on the rise too as i am astounded by his prodigious productivity but .. .it has a bit of an autistic taint … when has he ever ever been critical about … .say militarism … state terrorism … funded by ‘efficient’ taxmen .. which his rhetoric fuels.

He simply never mentions those ugly unethical sides of taxing, which to my sensibilities at least, all by itself fully justifies off shoring … no need to mention hi multiculturism induced taxing rates, etcetera, in that respect at all … though one could.

Transparancy command is the only populist and anti-dodgyGlobalitosis weapon that works and is salutary to the targets ..and .. and ….. not that tired inflammatory burn bash and blockerstone ballistics goin on as we speak in strasbourg. legalize and heavily tax gambling on honest naked fights, revenues could replace the need for nato altogether, so a little money left over to organize a thousand year reign and treelifespan to slow down, deter and replace that dangerous termite like skyscraper fetish all those substitute macho males suffer from, socalled socialized ones, worst, would not be amiss neither me thinks.

If Switserland would stick to handguns and such … instead of getting onto the jetfighter mental chaingang they would deserve defending as a tax haven. As it is we don’t have a costa rica in europe.
