Kucinich: “Get out of Iraq. Get out Afghanistan. Come home America.”
Washington, May 14 – Speaking on a Supplemental Appropriations bill that would continue to fund the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, Congressman Dennis Kucinich D-OH today made the following statement:
“America went to war against Iraq based on a lie. We were told back in 2002 that Iraq had weapons of mass destruction. The previous administration even pursued torture to try to extract false confessions in order to justify the war. It is time to tell the truth. The truth is we should not have prosecuted a war against the Iraqi people. The truth is the Democratic Senate could have stopped the Iraq war in 2002. The truth is we Democrats were given control of Congress in 2006 to end the war. The truth is this bill continues a disastrous war, which has cost the lives of thousands of our soldiers. The truth is the occupation has fueled the insurgency. The truth is the Iraq war will cost the American and the Iraqi people trillions of dollars and as many as a million innocent Iraqis have lost their lives as a result of this war.
“Don’t tell the American people that you are ending the war by continuing to fund the war. Don’t tell the American people that the war will end when their plans leave 50, 000 troops in Iraq. Don’t tell the American people that the way out of Afghanistan is to escalate our presence.
“Get out of Iraq. Get out Afghanistan. Come home America.”

Dennis Kucinich: Democrats Were Elected On A Promise To End The War In Iraq! + Crony Capitalism
Well said Dennis! Why he’s not POTUS is a reflection on the co-conspiratorial criminal daftness of the US electorate. They are all, each and every amerigoon, to blame.
But as vital member of the House, he had much to offer, even without a deserved presidential win. He tried, and tries heroically to end this, and he tried to bring the culprits to justice, but his partisan colleagues had sculkingly withdrawn from their legal obligations to impeach, hence the continued occupation, atrocity, and unaccountability.
I put this one up on the NYT’s Maureen Dowd Op-Ed. Can’t believe we’re still even discussing this, what wasted years.

You are brilliant here, Ms. Dowd.
For someone claiming a lack of knack for writing, you are prattling quite perfectly.
But the problem I feel, with defending Pelosi as ‘irrelevant’ to the process of prosecution for war-crimes, knowing that she knew as you now know, is that she was the one who took impeachment ‘off the table’.
We had the chance to impeach, prosecute, incarcerate, while the war-criminals were in office. Now we’ve set a precedent: Invading militaristically nations of no threat to the USA is OK, once again.
Rep. Kucinich had introduced an exhaustive and admirable bill (the sort of thing that elicits small plane crashes in the Cheney-istic realm of retribution), and the ‘House Judiciary Committee’, that same toothless organization now questioning Rove, headed by the high-pitched utter impotence of Mr. Conyers, relegated it to ‘committee’ (i.e. the circular file).
Instead of pursuing the past admin for war-crimes (which, as we all know, are far more extensive in the Botch regime than this water-boarding), here we are Tuesday-morning quarterbacking about the least of the war-crimes this new president (the ‘constitutional scholar’) is for whatever conspiratorial reason too intimidated to pursue.
The entire invasion of Iraq was a bona-fide war-crime, a million dead, horror untold and untellable, and the ‘democrats’ under Pelosi and Reid refused to do a thing. They are if anything entirely complicit, along with the americon people for approving and refusing to properly dissent. In fact, those enlistees who themselves deploy are technically in violation of the Geneva Convention themselves.
Pelosi would argue that ‘now the republicans own this war’.
Wrong. Now Obomba, and the amerigoon people own it.
Pelosi is a fundamental failure, she is complicit with this gang of neocon thugs the US populace ‘elected’, and should go down with the entire band of war-criminals; Botch, Rummy, Chainey, and the entire rethuglican neocon paranoid militaristic maniacs who propagated this horrific war-criminal slaughter on the people of Iraq.
Water-boarding is the least of our worries. Mass Murder is a more proper indictment of Dick.
Wow, Natureboy, great commentary! Glad you posted it on her post for all to read. Thanks for sharing with us here, too.
I think Dennis, cleary he’s is at least as smart as obombs, an even Better speaker, and when he speaks, there’s absolutely no doubletalk.
Listening to Obomba, all due respect, it’s not hard to see that he was chosen and controlled by some seret right-wing cabal of corporatist banksters (Not sure about all that, but something happened here).
But maybe the people really are fooled by corporatist banksters, and yet the main man is legit (as I suspect).
But yet another warmonger– more thousands incinerated. Opomba shoulda enlisted Kucinich as secy of defense, and Nader as commerce secy. We had the good people, obomba didn’t bite, Obomba is therefore too conciliatry to the right, (sorry).
But I don’t envy anything about his position, being close to his age.
Unfortunately he is now a direct mass-murderer, which I am entirely not, nor would be Dennis.
This is why I believe in Dennis. Were we Norway/Sweden, we would have elected Dennis (and have been like they, in fine financial shape).
j.
His capitulation on campaign promises has nothing to do with the left/right paradigm. Anyone who thought he was anything different than he actually is simply wasn’t paying attention.
He was flip-flopping all along, especially after suckering all the Progressive votes.
Even this old dumb redneck could see it.
The best one can say about Obama is that he is a lying con man. The worst, a murderer intent on continuing the Empire (just as he is supposed to do).
The Empire is not based on the left/right movements. All of the players are criminals (complicit by taking their coffer’s campaign finance money), with only a very few exceptions (like Dennis). But the Empire will use that brainwashed paradigm to its advantage.
It wouldn’t have made hardly any difference having McInsane as POTUS. If anyone thinks so, please list how there would be differences in policy than what Obama has laid down.
And the Sheople (still, sigh) say, “Amen!”
Good points.

It is a shame that America as a whole was too damned stupid that we didn’t elect this man as POTUS.
Cross posted at my place.
Unfortunately so many Americans didn’t have the chance to get to know Dennis Kucinich as the corporate media did whatever they could to marginalize him and in many cases completely left him out of their reporting.
Thanks for reposting, too.
More unfortunate is that the American Sheople are too stupid to realize that the MSM is corrupt and complicit. Even worse are those who are STILL endorsing the Democratic Party members even after all their shenanigans and lies. Even worse than that are the blogs who initially were Progressive and anti-Bush are now falling all over themselves to protect their Messiah who is actually precisely the same as Bush except a darker shade and possible even more murderous.
It is STILL the American citizen’s responsibility to hold these people accountable.
I am not cutting a single American any slack. Why? Because I saw through it and I ain’t no genius.
Ignorance isn’t an excuse when the signs were so open and obvious.
