UN agency says countries not following through with pledges of support for UN peacekeepers in Darfur

  1. Sad, but largely pointless – as the video makes very clear. They can’t have helicopters because there are few to none to be had from African countries and the agreement allowing the UN force into Sudan requires African troops.

We couldn’t even send the equipment, because the African armies, not using helicopters in the first place, wouldn’t have the flight and ground crews necessary to use them.

Face it, Darfur isn’t a situation that can be solved by negotiation or hand wringing. If people are going to change the situation, they’re going to have to endorse the use of extreme force and finally realize and admit that Just War is a true thing.
