The United States was involved in a military coup in Honduras that ousted President Manuel Zelaya on June 28, a top aide to Zelaya says.
Before heading to Costa Rica, the Honduran military plane that flew Zelaya into exile stopped to refuel at the Soto Cato air base Palmerola where at least 500 US troops are based, said Patricia Valle, the deputy foreign minister of Zelaya.

The United States has denied involvement in a military coup that ousted Honduran President Manuel Zelaya, according to a US military spokesman.
US forces “were not involved in the flight that carried President Zelaya to Costa Rica on June 28,” Southern Command spokesman Robert Appin said on Sunday.
His remarks came after deputy foreign minister of Zelaya, Patricia Valle, revealed that the Honduran military plane that flew Zelaya into exile stopped to refuel at the Soto Cato air base (Palmerola) where at least 500 US troops are based.
