It is becoming more and more obvious that the alleged healthcare “reform” that the America public is going to get out of Congress and the Executive branch is no real reform at all, but welfare for the insurance, pharmaceutical and entrenched medical industries. Congress and the President have sold out and it is becoming more and more obvious to everyone, even diehard conservatives and dyed-in-the-wool Democrats.
President Obama seems incapable of leading, and is trying to appease everyone and in the process is making no one happy, least of all those that elected him for “change you can believe in.”
Obama inherited a mess, a disaster with two wars, the worst financial crisis the world has ever known, the torture tactics of the previous administration, the erosion of constitutional rights, et cetera, et cetera.
A real opportunity existed to change course; however, Obama chose to surround himself with veteran politicians and Washington insiders that came out of Wall Street. Consequently he is bankrupting the country even more than Bush destroyed it. This coupled with his lack of experience which is becoming more and more apparent.
This, of course, has the Republicans salivating, realizing that they are dealing with a one term President, one without the necessary political experience. They are delusional. The American public may not be the brightest bulb in the world; nevertheless, the vast majority of them want us out of Afghanistan and Iraq, want something for their money that is being used to bail out the segment of the economy that created the financial crisis, want relief from losing their homes and they want single payer health care. In 2012 the public will be under no illusion that the Republicans will produce what the public wants from them.
On the other hand, the public will be so thoroughly disgusted with the incompetency of the Democrats and the Obama Administration, they will not vote for them. This is going to create a unique opportunity for a third party, a third party opportunity that hasn’t existed since Teddy Roosevelt’s Bull Moose Party (they actually called themselves the Progressive Party, but the word progressive in his day and age has been thoroughly corrupted).
To realize this opportunity three years down the road, people interested in offering a viable third party candidate and again making it a country of “We The People” and not of We The Corporation in the 2012 national election need to start organizing now!
