OBAMA: Unfortunately, so far at least Iran appears to have been unable to say yes to what everyone acknowledges is a creative and constructive approach. […] We are now running out of time with respect to that approach. […]

And we believe that the United States and Russia will continue to urge Iran to take the path that leads them to meeting its international obligations. We can’t count on that, and we will begin to discuss and prepare for these other pathways. […]

MEDVEDEV: […] I hope that as a result of our joint efforts with Iran, we will be able to reach agreements we’ve anticipated earlier and Iranian program will be peaceful and will not raise as many questions as our countries and the international community has at the moment. […]

In case we fail, the other options remain on the table in order to move the process in a different direction.

“[T]he clock is ticking. Iran is developing nuclear capacity at a fairly rapid clip; […] Iran’s possession of nuclear weapons would trigger an arms race in the Middle East that would be bad not just for U.S. security, it would be bad for the security of the entire region,”

[US President Barack Obama, joint press conference with Germany’s Prime Minister Angela Merkel, The White House, Washington DC, 26 June 2009]

excerpt from: Obama interview: the transcript

BBC World Service website, 2 June 2009

[emphasis added]

BBC: What the Israelis say is that they have managed to persuade you at least to concentrate on Iran and to give what, behind the scenes, they’re calling it a bit of an ultimatum to the Iranians: By the end of this year there must be some real progress.

OBAMA: Well, the only thing I’d correct on that is I don’t think the Israelis needed to convince me of that, since I’ve been talking about it for the last two years

  1. What a crock of shit! The Israelis are the threat with their nuclear weapons, If Iran is develoiping nuclear weapons, which all international inspection seem to agree that they are not, it is for defense against the threat posed by Israel, the belligerent state in the Middle East that coninually attacks its neighbors.

Iiran has not attacked another country in centuries, the illegal created and stolen state of Israel has almost constantly attacked other countries.
