A powerful Aftershock measuring 6.1 on the Richter scale has hit Haiti some sixty kilometres away from the capital. Early reports say residents abandoned their homes and gathered on the streets for safety. This comes a week after the initial devastation, as international agencies are still struggling to get aid to those still in despeate need of help. With the situation now spiraling out of control only a small portion of the food, water and medicine has reached survivors.

Chavez: US weapon test caused Haiti earthquake

Venezuelan leader Hugo Chavez has once again accused the United States of playing God. But this time it’s Haiti’s disastrous earthquake that he thinks the U.S. was behind. Spanish newspaper ABC quotes Chavez as saying that the U.S. navy launched a weapon capable of inducing a powerful earthquake off the shore of Haiti. He adds that this time it was only a drill and the final target is … destroying and taking over Iran.
5.6 Magnitude quake hits Venezuela

Another earthquake has struck – this time in Venezuela, which is also in the Caribbean region. The tremor’s been confirmed by the U.S. Geological Survey. It’s been measured at 5.6 on the Richter scale, making it a medium-strength earthquake.
There have been no reports of any damage or casualties so far.
Experts say the new earthquake could be an aftershock of the one which devastated Haiti on Tuesday – which was force seven in magnitude.

A 4.0-magnitude earthquake has caused landslides in southwestern China, killing at least seven people, according to officials.
