At long last, the mental health community has identified, analyzed, and classified the illness that twists and perverts the psyches of billions of people, resulting in intense suffering and death for over 70 billion nonhuman animals each year. Look for it in the DSM-V, which is expected to be released in 2013.

And thankfully, there is a cure. It’s called veganism.

Anti-Animal Personality Disorder

Diagnostic Features:

Anti-Animal Personality Disorder is a condition characterized by persistent disregard for, and violation of, the rights of nonhuman animals that begins in infancy and usually continues into adulthood. Deceit, manipulation, and empathy deficiency are central features of this disorder. For this diagnosis to be given, the individual must be at least 18, the commonly accepted age at which individuals become fully responsible for their actions.

Diagnostic Criteria:

Only one of the following is required:

Conformity to social norms with respect to lawful behaviors as indicated by repeatedly performing acts that cause nonhuman animals to endure unnecessary suffering and agonizing deaths.

Self-deceit, as indicated by repeatedly lying to oneself to convince oneself that it is morally acceptable to enslave, torture, and murder nonhuman animals.

Reckless disregard for the pain and suffering of sentient beings

Lack of remorse, as indicated by being indifferent to or rationalizing having hurt, abused, enslaved, tortured, or murdered nonhuman animals

Grandiose sense of self worth, commonly referred to as anthropocentrism or speciesism

Emotional poverty (limited range of feelings)

Failure to accept direct responsibility or complicity in the enslavement, torture, and murder of nonhuman animals

Complications:

Individuals with this disorder have a highly increased risk of dying prematurely of heart disease, hypertension, stroke, or cancer. Their lack of empathy towards nonhuman animals often diminishes or eliminates their capacity to empathize with humans, resulting in anti-social, narcissistic and violent social interactions and interpersonal relationships. In at least 20% of the population, sociopathic behaviors become the norm.

Comorbidity:

Pedophilia, Antisocial personality disorder, Sexual Dysfunction, and Narcissistic Personality Disorder

Course:

The course of this disorder is often chronic, but it can be reversed through a conscious effort to convert to veganism.

Prevalence:

The prevalence of Anti-Animal Personality Disorder in the general population is about 95%, as the prevailing social, cultural, and legal paradigms enable and encourage animal abuse and exploitation to facilitate human pleasure and convenience.

  1. i find vegans that try to convert people sort of funny in a way . look , we like our burgers and steak . you vegans jason have alot of zeal in you that could be used for such greater cuases .
you call us animals . who says we are ? too simplisitic in its thinking . man is a complicated being that is sort of an angel /beast.
but you are blinded by your zeal . try reading the new testament . now , that is a cause worth living and dying for . becuase it is forever.

  2. I like imagining the people that eat dead animals seeing the head of the creature that was murdered to fill their intestines with poisonous waste. The dead head should be placed on the table while humans consume their flesh. Advertising should show the before and after images of the dead meat sources they heavily promote as food. Better yet, show the actual slaughter of the animal and then the hamburger it created. What’s sad is that most would careless and still continue the behavior. Dead meat has no valid nutritional value unless you are trying to survive a deep freeze.

Great post Lo – you are a brave soul 😉

    • stacey – who cares if they have no nutritional value . i like the way things tase . but i have to be honest with you …. i do like a good veggie burger now and then with tomato and cheese. why ? cause it tases good .
basically , vegans are SELF RIGHTIUOS . they need to understand that we dont share their convictions and the morals thay have made up in their heads. for as oscar wilde said ”morals are something we make up for people we dont like ”.
i have alot of vegan freinds. some are cool . but when they start preaching to me that eating meat is immoral , they are nothing more than mere moralists without any real spritual ethics .

      • I am not a vegan (I like cheese and milk) and I don’t have a nazi bone in my body. It is way more socially acceptable to eat dead animals than to not. I have been jeered more times than I can remember accurately for simply refusing a portion of meat. “No thanks” is generally the genesis to “animals were put on the planet to eat”. I go along with it and don’t take it personally.

I have empathy for people that genuinely love animals and don’t want to eat them. I commend the ones that can yell and scream in their defense – I certainly don’t have the strength. All of the other on-going, human made, earth dramas have sucked the energy to argue completely out of me. I suppose that is why I love animals so much, they aren’t the ones making everything such a mess.

        Mine-field topic 😉

        • Well said Stacey!

I get the sense rocko wants to be provocative by saying blatantly daft things that he knows better about but here he seems to double-speak his own mind down the slippery slope of actually believing it.

For him to be so obsessed with compassion for humans to his biblical extremes while espousing the mass holocaust of other mammals for his burgers in factory farms would be the height of cultist hypocrisy. He’s probably just trying to test people’s humanity and prod debate (I hope!), and you passed with flying colors!

Jason Miller is awesome and Lo is indeed brilliant for publishing him.
