The Greeks Get It by Chris Hedges

Here’s to the Greeks. They know what to do when corporations pillage and loot their country. They know what to do when Goldman Sachs and international bankers collude with their power elite to falsify economic data and then make billions betting that the Greek economy will collapse. They know what to do when they are told their pensions, benefits and jobs have to be cut to pay corporate banks, which screwed them in the first place. Call a general strike. Riot. Shut down the city centers. Toss the bastards out. Do not be afraid of the language of class warfare—the rich versus the poor, the oligarchs versus the citizens, the capitalists versus the proletariat. The Greeks, unlike most of us, get it.

  5. The Greek people get it but obviously the great Socialist Popandreau doesn’t. He should have withdrawn from the EU. Yes, Hedges’ vaunted Socialists, part and parcel of the EU Bankster bailout.

It is the banksters that have promulgated this crisis and only by taking back the creation of currency and credit from the banksters and creating our money without debt in public central banks for the benefit of the population will we be freed from the clutches of the banksters and war mongers.

This should be a teachable moment for Hedges. Even socialists are part and parcel of the hegemony of the banksters. It IS time to make choices and the only party that has a platform and policies to rid us of these vermin of corruption, crime and chaos is the Green Party …

    • “Yes, Hedges’ vaunted Socialists, part and parcel of the EU Bankster bailout.”

Any examples of him having vaunted Socialists? I would not be surprised if he did, for many Americans who have claimed to be progressives have done this, and some even argued that voting for Obana was okay because, they admitted, this was a lesser evil, to which I replied that this was a recognition that these people were not voting for a good and fitting candidate for pretty much any political office.

The Green Party might possibly be okay to support, but not if the party makes another atrocious choice as happened in 2004, when the candidates for US President and VP betrayed true members of the party by supporting Kerry and saying they were going to vote for him. Also, the Green Party in Europe apparently has a bad or poor track record.

Today, maybe yellow would be a better colour. It’s more visible and ambulances are paimted this colour.

  6. Hedges is speaking a dangerous truth. Dangerous, I say, for him.

We must all become radicals and revolt against this monster called Capitalism. We must shut the country down (God bless the Greeks for their courage) until the oligarchs leave. We must dismantle the War Department and the Two Party System, and take back the treasure they have stolen from us. We must be fearless. We must be clear with our intentions. We must be true Radicals. The time is now!

    • “Hedges is speaking a dangerous truth. Dangerous, I say, for him. ”

I think you have been watching too many movies. He’s in no danger for this article. He’s far from being the sole person to speak out against tyranny, etcetera. Robert Parry is alive and doing well too. And no 9/11 Truth researchers and speakers have come to harm because of this, yet what they have amply proven is to get very close to danger; but they won’t be found “mysteriously” dead because they are too well and widely known, in as well as outside of the U.S.

  7. Chris hedges allows us to help rediscover our radical nature, as to why we are so deeply opposed to the excuses for permanent war, be it from Obama the warlord or from Clinton the threatening dragon lady. Orwell published 1984,in 1948-9 the same year the department of war was changed to the department of defence. Let us not forget what could be possible.
