Chris Hedges Protests Obama’s Wars
Chris Hedges spent two decades as a foreign reporter covering wars in Latin America, Africa, Europe and the Middle East. He has written nine books, including Death of the Liberal Class, Empire of Illusion: The End of Literacy and the Triumph of Spectacle (2009) and War Is a Force That Gives Us Meaning (2003). On Dec. 16 he, Daniel Ellsberg, Medea Benjamin, Ray McGovern, Dr. Margaret Flowers and several others will hold a rally across from the White House to protest the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and attempt to chain themselves to the White House fence. More information on the Dec. 16 protest can be found at www.stopthesewars.org

The nation needs women and men with the courage of their convictions and the eloquence that comes of experience. I have come to respect Chris Hedges’ brilliant prose, because he has the credibility of those who have experienced war, and the compassion of those who have sought enlightenment.
