Many of you realize that the news is censored here in the United States and elsewhere in the world. Some censorship is carried out by governments, and some censorship is initiated by the corporations that sponsor different news channels, and some censorship is brought to you by the news networks themselves.
There are many reasons why news is censored, but the bottom line is that any form of censorship is a violation of human rights!
The right of people to know the truth about what is happening around them is a basic human right. It appears that the majority of governments now seem to believe that they have the ultimate responsibility as to what the public should know and what the public should not know. The continuing “War on Terror” gives governments enhanced national security measures that would not be tolerated in peacetime. The fact is that the “War on Terror” is nothing but an excuse to subject people to onerous and humiliating body searches and is used to erode the right to privacy and the right of free expression.
Corporations that have ties to the Military Industrial Complex have a vested interest in keeping certain types of information away from the public. The more people understand what is happening in the world, the less likely they will allow governments to restrict their freedom to move about the planet and the less likely they will give a blank check to invade their privacy as well as their personal space (including their bodies).
Because of the growing censorship of information, I have decided to use my radio show Liberalpro on Blogtalk Radio to do what I can to counter misinformation that is foisted on the public by “official” news sources. I have been fortunate enough to develop close associations through my writing on alternative news sites and by doing the Liberalpro Radio show for the last two years.
This week will mark the beginning of a new format for the show. On Tuesday I will be interviewing a close associate that has lived in Beijing, China for the last five years. Because of the political climate and the Chinese use of censorship, his full name will not be used. I can assure you that what he has to say will give you a different perspective on The People’s Republic.
On Wednesday, Finian Cunningham will update our listeners on the situation in Bahrain, where he has spent the last three years. During his last appearance on the show he described the assault on peaceful pro-democracy groups by the predominately Sunni Self Defense Force and the National Police in a country that has a Shia majority. The Saudi Arabians (Sunni) have brought their Army, equipped by the United States, into Bahrain to quell the demonstrators with the acquiescence of the US who have intervened in Libya against Col. Qaddafi because the Libyan Government was supposedly using a heavy hand against pro-democracy demonstrators. Maybe we will get a glimpse into the rationale of the United States.
On the 27th of May at 9:00PM EDT we will have Allen Roland on the show. Allen has written for many alternative websites and has his own column. Mr. Roland has been on before and he is always very informative and entertaining at the same time.
Try to spend some time with us at Liberalpro Radio this week. I’m positively certain you will learn about things that the mainstream press isn’t telling you about. We are at http://www.blogtalkradio.com/liberalpro/. Hope to see you in our chatroom or on our phone lines.
