In theory, the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) guarantees the legal right of the American public to obtain federal agency records. Judicially enforceable, FOIA was designed to ensure public access to Executive Branch records. The U.S. Supreme Court has stated that FOIA’s purpose “is to ensure an informed citizenry, vital to the functioning of a democratic society, needed to check against corruption and to hold governors accountable to the governed.”

We’re all heard the hysteria, “If America doesn’t raise the debt ceiling she’ll default on her loans for the first time in our nations history.”  Everyone in Washington is in a panic.   All the Chicken Little’s are running around proclaiming, “The sky is falling!  The sky is falling!”  The corporate media picks up the mantra and echoes it throughout the land.  “The sky is falling!  The sky is falling.”  Now everyone’s in a panic, running around screaming, “The sky is falling!  The sky is falling!”

On Sunday July 10, France seemingly allied itself with Russia and China in calling on NATO to immediately stop its counterproductive and counterintuitive bombing, as more countries witness public demonstrations against NATO’s actions in Libya.  French Defense Minister Gerard Longuet said in Paris that military action in Libya must end and Colonel Gaddafi be welcomed around the negotiating table.
