Hillary Clinton’s discussion of a no-fly zone over Syria is a violation of the UN charter of the Geneva Accords, journalist and activist Don DeBar told RT.
The US Secretary of State discussed plans to undermine the Syrian government, during a meeting with Turkey’s Foreign Minister on Saturday.
Clinton and her Turkish counterpart, Ahmet Davutoglu, indicated they are exploring a number of measures to aid the Syrian opposition, Reuters reported. Don DeBar spoke to RT about the involvement of western powers in the Syrian conflict.

Syrian security forces have clashed with foreign-sponsored insurgents in the northwestern city of Aleppo. Fighting was reported near the television and radio stations in the city on Saturday. Clashes were also reported in the central area of Seif al-Dowla. The Syrian troops have inflicted heavy losses on the insurgents in Aleppo over the past few days. An Iranian lawmaker says the United States seeks to downplay Iran’s crucial role in resolving the Syrian crisis.
Mohammad Saleh Jokar made the remark in response to the US reaction to Iran’s holding of a recent consultative meeting on Syria.
Iran hosted the day-long meeting on Thursday, August 7 to discuss the Syrian unrest. The gathering was attended by officials and representatives from nearly 30 countries.
The United States dismissed the importance of the conference and criticized the Islamic Republic for supporting the Syrian President Bashar al-Assad’s government.
Jokar reiterated that “the policy of isolating Iran will get nowhere,” adding that Washington aims to bar Iran’s participation in ending the Syrian crisis
