MEMORANDUM FOR THE SECRETARY OF STATE
THE SECRETARY OF DEFENSE
SUBJECT: Drawdown Pursuant to Section 552(c)(2)of the Foreign Assistance Act of 1961 of up to $10 Million in Commodities and Services from any Agency of the United States Government to the Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC) and the Syrian Opposition’s Supreme Military Council (SMC)
Pursuant to the authority vested in me as President by the Constitution and the laws of the United States, including section 552(c)(2) of the Foreign Assistance Act of 1961, as amended (FAA), 22 U.S.C. 2348a, I hereby determine that:
(1) as a result of an unforeseen emergency, the provision of assistance under chapter 6 of part II of the FAA in amounts in excess of funds otherwise available for such assistance is important to the national interests of the United States; and
(2) such an unforeseen emergency requires the immediate provision of assistance under chapter 6 of part II of the FAA.
In addition, pursuant to the authority vested in me as President by the Constitution and the laws of the United States, including section 614 of the FAA, I hereby determine that it is important to the security interests of the United States to furnish this assistance to the SOC and the SMC without regard to any other provision of law within the purview of section 614(a)(1) of the FAA.
I therefore direct the drawdown of up to $10 million in nonlethal commodities and services from the inventory and resources of any agency of the United States Government to provide food and medical supplies to the SOC and the SMC for distribution to those in need.
The Secretary of State is authorized and directed to report this determination to the Congress, to arrange for its publication in the Federal Register, and to coordinate execution of this drawdown.

An analyst says if al-Nusra has admitted links to al-Qaeda then the US has been handing weapons to al-Qaeda in Syria.
In the background of this the al-Nusra rebel Group in Syria, financed and supported with equipment and training by certain Western and Arab countries, has confessed to be a part of al-Qaeda. Syria is now urging the United Nations to classify the al-Nusra Front as an al-Qaeda-linked group. Syria has always maintained that the bulk of fighting and atrocity in Syria is being conducted by these extremist foreign entities funded by a coalition of enemy countries and that there is no civil war as Western media are leading their populations to believe.

US to increase its help to Syrian militants

The leaders of Syria’s foreign-backed opposition have reiterated their appeals for Washington’s further support for their fight against the government of President Bashar al-Assad.
A senior US State Department official, not named in the report, said that during a meeting with US Secretary of State John Kerry on the sidelines of the G8 summit on Wednesday in London, Syria’s opposition leaders once again called on the US to supply them with weaponry.
“We are always considering a variety of options, we are going to continue to aid the opposition, working with them in terms of what they need, in terms of what we’re willing to provide,” the US official said.
Kerry has said that the US administration is looking at possible ways to increase its help to the militants in Syria. According to official sources, he is also set to take part in an upcoming meeting of the so-called Friends of Syria group in the Turkish city of Istanbul on April 20. Washington has publicly claimed that it only offers “nonlethal” aid to the gangs trying to overthrow the Syrian government.

Notwithstanding the acute irony and hypocrisy of the US position, that is so transparently dishonest and subversive, we cannot ignore the brutal criminal Assad legacy, from father to son.
And however enthusiastically we may concur with many of Galloway’s moral declarations, he is unaware that amplification is more than adequate in a television studio, so has no need to bellow histrionically from his Press TV soap box.
He would achieve a great deal more if he could desist from such bristling machine-gun bellicosity and cliched rhetoric. If he would calm-down a bit, he’d make a significant difference.
Not long ago, he was on BBC Radio 4’s well-respected “Any Questions” panel with Justice Secretary and jazz aficionado Ken Clarke. To the surprise of some including myself, he was on the same page as Clarke who made an unprecedented and unequivocal condemnation of British policy in Afghanistan and Iraq, that he characterized as profoundly ill-conceived and ultimately disastrous.
Galloway loves to grandstand and emote. Two things he intimates are dead right though: Thatcher was a fascist crony and her golf-cart buddy Reagan was a jelly-baby imbecile. Reagan’s ostentatious Hollywood-land send-off said everything we ever needed to know about the moral poverty of the USA. How could the British monkey-see mentality, be expected to resist indulging in a similarly mindless exhibition of grotesque funereal mummery?

In a time of severe austerity, the president (not Congress) is giving 10 million dollars to rebels fighting against a sovereign nation.

An estimated 4 million refugees, just so Walmart and the rest of the mad ecocidal consumerists can keep peddling life-blood as shit?
That’s ten dollars for each of those displaced men, women and children, not to mention their suffering animals, What happens to the four-leggeds in a war-zone? Does Obama have any pets? Has he ever milked a cow? Does he care? We all know he has children, but they are safe and secure from state terror and brutal death cadres, certainly not in need of refuge, bread or shelter or clothes, blankets, shoes, a warm drink and a friendly embrace.
What on earth is wrong with America?! These fanatic corporate clones are not just insane, they are ruthlessly insane.
They would do well to recall the memorable phrase of the great Canadian peoples’ poet Milton Acorn “Dig Up My Heart.”
Sorry Lo, my fury has got the better of me and the maths is wrong ~ 10 million dollars divided between four million refugees would be $2.50 each. So why not give the money to “Al Quaida” so they can produce another million impoverished, terrorised and starving victims of totalitarian arrogance? $2 per wretched person is even better value for money.
