This is the latest update on the big, blue banner ads that WordPress.com is now running on all videos within our blog posts.
The good news is that the ads will not be seen by those of us logged into WordPress. Also, there is now an “X” to click to remove the ads while watching the video(s) although the big, green “share” button is still visible and cannot be removed for those not logged into WordPress. [Updated: the green button disappears if you place your cursor outside of the video.]
There are no statistics available to know how many of the Dandelion Salad readers have WordPress accounts and are logged in when viewing posts here, so I cannot post embedded videos any longer. I will post links to the Youtube videos instead. I’ve already removed embedded videos and replaced them with links for the posts published in the last week or so.
I believe this is unfortunate to all readers. No one likes to have to click an additional link and especially if there is more than one video on a post, it will indeed be a hassle.
If you would like to complain about this and you are on WordPress.com, here is the Forum topic, ebay-ads-covering-embedded-youtube-videos. [Update: May 7, 2013 WordPress.com closed the topic. No new comments are allowed.]
PS:
Happy May Day!

Good news, I found a way to resolve this for future video posts. Unfortunately, I do not have the time to edit the already published blog posts with videos on them as there are too many (over 10,000).

unacceptable.
It certainly is unacceptable to me. That is why I cannot embed Youtube videos in the future.
Update: I found a way to post Youtube videos for future blog posts.
