(to the music of “The Times They Are A-Changin’ ” by Bob Dylan)

Come gather ’round people who count earth as home,
And admit that the sea levels around us have grown,
And accept it that soon we’ll be drenched to the bone.
If our future to us is worth savin’,
Then we’d better start pressuring those with hearts of stone,
For the climes they are a-changin’.

Come pundits who mislead with your silver tongues and pens,
Start tellin’ the truth; the chance won’t come again.
The “debate” is over: a hotter planet’s our end,
And it’s us that we must be blamin’.
We’re all losers now, and no one will win,
For the climes they are a changin’.

Come senators, congressmen, now heed the call,
Don’t deny the science, don’t speed up our fall,
For those millions dyin’ are because of your stalls.
There’s a fight for survival that’s ragin’,
It’ll soon shake your windows and rattle your walls,
For the climes they are a changin’.

Come mothers and fathers throughout the land,
It’s time to fire those who won’t understand
That the forces of nature are beyond our command,
As extreme weather’s too often ragin’,
And the victims will be every child, woman, and man,
For the climes they are a changin’.

The future is dimmed by the curse we have cast,
Our grandchildren need us to mature and act fast,
For the present now will too soon be past,
And they’ll ask us, “Why were you waitin’?”
So we’d better start actin’ for their future to last,
For the climes they are a changin’.
