Flood Wall Street protesters rally against capitalism to protect environment
RT America on Sep 22, 2014
Following Sunday’s record breaking environmental march in New York City, crowds turned out again on Monday to “Flood Wall Street” in protest of capitalism’s connection to global warming and environmental destruction. An unsanctioned demonstration not cleared with city authorities, the march has been so far largely peaceful despite small scuffles between police and demonstrators. RT’s Alexey Yaroshevsky is on the ground with the crowds calling for change.

USA: See thousands of climate change activists SHUT DOWN Wall Street
RuptlyTV on Sep 22, 2014
Thousands of climate change activists flooded NYC’s Wall Street on Monday for a march and sit-in demonstration in Manhattan’s financial district. The protesters are calling on Wall Street to stop putting profit before environmental protection.
Accompanying the demonstrators were an inflatable ‘carbon bubble,’ a large banner, a marching band, and inflatable puppets. The protest comes one day after Sunday’s “People’s Climate March” in which over 300,000 took part.

We had our own Peoples Climate March here in tiny New Plymouth (pop 55,000). Only about 30 of us, but protest marches are quite rare here and attract a lot of attention: https://secure.avaaz.org/en/event/climate/Peoples_Climate_March_1463
Very good news. Did it make the local press then?
No it didn’t, sadly. But our struggle to get a Maori seat on our district council did. It’s the first in New Zealand history: http://www.stuff.co.nz/taranaki-daily-news/news/10536068/Horse-bolts-over-Maori-ward
Too bad about not any local coverage from your protest.
Interesting article, thanks for sharing.
Joe Friendly has an impressive library of videos on his YT channel, including this one. How about Sanders/Hedges in 2016. Bernie could announce, if elected, he’d serve one four-year term, then not seek re-election. Interesting and optimism-generating developments.
Thanks, Jerry. Yes, Joe does have a great many videos; I’ve been subscribed to his channel for many, many years.
I know Hedges would refuse; he’s not interested in being a politician.
Not sure who Sanders would choose as a VP if he decided to run. He makes a good point that to run as an Independent or Third Party candidate there are many obstacles just on getting on the ballot. Once there, unfortunately, he and any other Third Party candidates would be omitted from the national debates. US-style “democracy”, where presidential candidates are not allowed to debate one another. It’s a total farce.
I would like to see either Sanders &/or someone else run against Hilary Clinton in the primary election as they would be in the debates, therefore having their agenda exposed to most citizens.
