Obama’s secret trade deals greatly favors big banks. Brown says, “It looks to me the banking system is in control. That’s where all the big money comes from, and that’s where the two big parties got their money. It’s been this way ever since Rockefeller and Morgan back then in 1900—the Democrats and the Republicans. Brown goes on to say, “The goal here is “they” want to own everything and rent it back to us. So, law is no longer a way to protect the people. Law is now to protect the corporations and serve the corporations.”

Despite Fast Track Vote, Americans Know Trade Deals Fail Miserably, Will Oppose Trans-Pacific Partnership

Press Release
by Robert Weissman
President, Public Citizen
June 23, 2015

Following elaborate legislative contortions and gimmicks designed to hand multinational corporations their top priority, today the U.S. Senate paved the way for Fast Track legislation that aims to advance the corporate wish list known as the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP), as well other trade deals.

Those contortions were necessary because the American people overwhelmingly oppose these deals, notwithstanding an endless barrage of propaganda.

They oppose these deals because they know from personal experience that the NAFTA model fails miserably.

They know that these deals will mean more export of jobs and more downward pressure on wages. They know that these deals will undermine our ability to maintain and adopt strong environmental and consumer protections. They know that these deals are designed to help giant corporations, and not communities.

Today’s action means that Congress will tie its hands to prevent it from exerting positive influence over negotiations of the TPP. It means that the final TPP agreement will very likely include provisions empowering foreign corporations to sue our own government for policies that they claim impinge on their expected future profits. It means that the final TPP will very likely include provisions that will extend Big Pharma monopolies, raising prices for consumers and health systems – and, even in the United States, and especially in the poorer TPP countries, denying people access to needed medical treatment. It means that the final TPP will very likely include provisions undermining our food safety.

What it doesn’t mean is that Congress must pass such a TPP. When the inexcusable and anti-democratic veil of secrecy surrounding the TPP is finally lifted, and the American people see what is actually in the agreement, they are going to force their representatives in Washington to vote that deal down. Members who fail to do so can expect their constituents to hold them accountable.

  3. These historic trade deals were initiated by the largest shareholders (wealthiest families on Earth) of private central banks such as the Federal Reserve, World Bank, IMF, BIS, etc. in response to BRICS – those megabanks’ first ever competition. Those behind TPP, TTIP, TiSA are aware of humanity’s increasing awareness of how the world’s wealthiest families have used monopoly international finance in ways which have led to the greatest wealth inequality in history, the corresponding “pushback” (see Occupy) generated by that increased awareness, and are attempting to use the trade deals – locking in global market share, where entire nations are viewed as “customers” – as effective constraints/roadblocks against a world-paradigm shift from record inequality to sharing the Earth and her natural resource wealth more equally. In essence the trade deals are designed to conquer whole nations and their more aware and active, evolving people economically and financially, not (yet) militarily, but through another form of “covert class war” (TPP, TTIP, TiSA are classified/secret – details unknown by We the People but for Wikileaks),

  5. Outrageous shyster juggernautics ~ the biggest sell-out of all time.

Clearly the dupes and beneficiaries of unregulated power have been sold a preposterous myth of predestined corporate oligopolistic ascendancy. The US political “establishment” (ha ha ha) and indeed, its European equivalent, must be the stupidest people on this Earth if they think they can get away with this egregious criminality and escape censure; as they shall surely face the most extreme consequences on their home ground, once the Murdoch PR smoke screen of distracting publicity begins to dissipate, and citizens wake up to the realisation of what is being perpetrated…in their name.

  6. A naive question but…what is in it for Obama? Is this what he was referring to when he talked about ‘change’??? He is betraying his country and most of his people.

    • No, I don’t think it’s a naive question at all; I wonder the same thing. The “change” thing was a campaign slogan, that’s all. Indeed, he and almost all the Republicans and some Democrats are betraying the country and its people.

  7. Thank you Lo! I just watched Ellen Brown being interviewed by Greg Hunter whom I never heard of before, but like him. As usual, Ellen was right on the mark again about the TPP.

I’m still getting a zillion emails from anti Fast Track and TPP groups urging me to “call my Congress critter” and tell them to vote “No” bla bla bla….
You know the drill, Lo. I’m sure they’re gonna listen to us after we urge them for the nth time. Obama is as despicable as they come.

Like Ellen said to Greg: We don’t know how bad it really is.”

Interesting times ahead. Stay tuned for the continuing melodrama of earthling folly.

    • Thanks for watching the interview with Ellen Brown. I got this video from Ellen Brown’s website today.

Well, we do need to keep writing and calling our Congress critters. I have plus I tweeted one of my Senators today saying how disappointed I was in her vote and to remind her to vote No on the TPP.

Have you watched the video interview with Kevin Zeese yet? It’s very good.

  8. What part banking plays in world wide corruption is unknown as the reader is aware the recent bank located in London involved with laundering drug money now under scrutiny having to close many of its banks in Britain as its hands are tied at the moment as a result of drug money, Australian asio and military involvement with a Australian Navy ship supposedly 260 kms off the East African coast, it is noted this bust has no coverage on Australian TV, I am saying the main adherents to drug running is ASIO, CIA, MI6, and other security agents throughout the world this is as a result of the covert operations of governments of the imperialistic powers, who need drugs to support their governments which other wise would become disabled to function, I have no problem with governments being the main traffickers of drugs, what is bad about this system is the Australian police, ASIO informing drug mules in Indonesia who eventually were shot as a punishment for being involved with drugs by the Indonesian government, although the Australian Government covered up their involvement with dobbing the two individuals and thus sacrificing them as all part of a self righteousness of protecting the Australian public safety.
My preference is that all drugs become legal with the addition of what the drugs can be as a health hazard, whilst drugs are illegal money will be a high cost of drug use and also the general use of drugs such as drugs used in sport, we can no longer rely on drugs not being used as they are in constant flux, what we need is not to keep the public safe, we need to be aware as our own responsibility as to the dangers of existence, in other words you live as a no guaranteed state of danger, rather than being protected by governments.
