On November 22, thousands gathered at the gates of Fort Benning, GA at the 25th annual protest of the School of the Americas to memorialize the tens of thousands of people who lost their lives at the hands of the U.S. Empire’s brutally repressive juntas it used to rule Latin America by force.
The dictators and death squad leaders, who committed acts of genocide, were trained within the gates of Fort Benning, at the School of the Americas – otherwise known as the “School Of Assassins.”
Abby Martin investigates this notorious school that is largely hidden from the American public; its crimes around the world; its star graduates; why it exists; and the movement to shut it down.

Enough of the US braying to the world about ‘democracy’ and ‘human rights’. Enough of this hypocrisy. Enough of turning our world FUBAR.
If this series doesn’t change things, nothing will.
The United States has managed to orchestrate what has rapidly escalated into an unprecedented humanitarian crisis world-wide, not just in the Americas; this history is almost beyond belief. This is a proliferating empire that spans barely two generations….an empire with unheard of killing capacity and economic resources beyond the dreams of avarice.
I’ve never witnessed anything as incisive and compelling. So many books and films have documented the atrocities that have been perpetrated under the auspices of the US politico-economic brand, but these episodes draw multiple threads together, in a concise & coherent indictment that cannot be ignored or dismissed.
Crime is crime no matter who the criminals are. The moral depravity of the US “military corporate establishment” is so utterly contemptible as to be beyond redemption. What we, as planetary humanity, lack are not just effective, consensual international laws, but impartial, robust institutions; sophisticated ethical instruments of due process, to implement and enforce honest compliance with a basic code that holds all unaccountable power in check.
We need to concede and accept that the archetypal mechanism of Law “sui generis,” must become the pragmatic means to the noble end for which it is intended & to which it should aspire ~ to underwrite & uphold the dignity of Truth and the sanctity of Life in all its universal manifestations.
Mankind has rights; but we have to assert and affirm those rights through Law.
