Couldn’t post this on the website, I’m losing the will to live!
…… Good interview. Totally agree, a new constitution! It would be a superb national project, for local schools and communities to submit their proposed drafts and suggestions; an authentic citizens manifesto. Something Ralph Nader would be brilliant at promoting.
Chris Hedges is doing such a great job of exposing the heinous issue of ruthless incarceration as ‘new’ slavery. Venal corruption is a caste of mind that can be changed; but only through a dramatic reassessment of what we mean by moral intelligence and a radical new approach to how healthy states should operate.
Capitalism is institutionalized corruption par excellence; it is a grotesquely mesmeric addiction to ecocidal stupidity ~ pure and simple.
I’ve been listening to Sarah Chayes recently, author of Thieves of State; who worked in Afghanistan for many years, and knows the real inside story. Her thoughts on endemic and embedded corruption are extremely valuable. She’d make an excellent guest: http://www.thievesofstate.com/
Chris mentions the late Stuart Hall
