Chris Hedges talks to Spenser Rapone, former combat veteran and U.S. Army Officer, about the Washington Post’s series, the Afghanistan Papers, which draws on thousands of pages of international government documents about the war in Afghanistan. The documents expose the lies, deceit, mismanagement, waste, corruption, fraud and failed schemes that Democratic and Republican administrations pursued in Afghanistan, the longest conflict, now in its 18th year, in U.S. history that has wasted hundreds of billions of dollars of U.S. taxpayers’ money and resulted in the tens of thousands of deaths.

RT America on Dec. 18, 2019

The Trump administration is expected to announce the withdrawal of around 4,000 troops from Afghanistan amid reports that the US is set to resume peace talks with the Taliban. But will Washington stick to this plan? RT America’s Rachel Blevins gives us the latest. Then former NYT Middle East bureau chief and host of “On Contact” Chris Hedges weighs in on how the mainstream media seems to be ignoring the recently leaked Afghanistan Papers. (3:41) Just last week, Turkey, Syria, Iran, North Korea and Russia were added to the sanctions list as part of the 2020 military budget that has already passed the US House of Representatives. Co-director of the International Action Center Sara Flounders joins In Question to discuss. (14:52).

RT America on Dec. 18, 2019

Much of what we’ve been told about the US war in Afghanistan has been revealed as a lie. RT America’s Michele Greenstein joins Rick Sanchez to discuss the bombshell release of the Afghanistan papers. Not only did US generals know the war was unwinnable but there’s evidence that the US pretext to invade Afghanistan was flimsier than we believed.
