The documents expose the lies, deceit, mismanagement, waste, corruption, fraud and failed schemes that Democratic and Republican administrations pursued in Afghanistan, the longest conflict, now in its 18th year, in U.S. history that has wasted hundreds of billions of dollars of U.S. taxpayers’ money and resulted in the tens of thousands of deaths.

The Trump administration is expected to announce the withdrawal of around 4,000 troops from Afghanistan amid reports that the US is set to resume peace talks with the Taliban. Then former NYT Middle East bureau chief and host of “On Contact” Chris Hedges weighs in on how the mainstream media seems to be ignoring the recently leaked Afghanistan Papers.
