The Financial Storm by Stephen Lendman (Part IV)

Reviewing Ellen Brown’s “Web of Debt:” Part IV

This is the fourth in a series of articles on Ellen Brown’s superb 2007 book titled “Web of Debt,” now updated in a December 2008 third edition. It tells “the shocking truth about our money system, (how it) trapped us in debt, and how we can break free.” This article focuses on America’s “web of debt” entrapment.

The Debt Spider Captures America – American Workers Consigned to Debt Serfdom

America has been trapped for over two centuries, with today’s debt level way exceeding developing nations. Like bankrupt people staying “afloat by making the minimum payment(s) on (their) credit card(s), the government (avoids) bankruptcy by paying just the interest on its monster debt” – now double in size since Brown’s first edition and onerous enough for Controller of the Currency David Walker to warn earlier of its unaffordability by this year. If America can’t service the amount, it’s officially bankrupt and the economy will collapse. If it happens, IMF austerity will follow and turn America into Guatemala. Other vulnerable economies as well – permanent debt bondage and worker serfdom.

Catherine Austin Fitts was a former high-level Wall Street and government insider. She points to a “financial coup d’etat” conspiracy between the two to hollow out America, centralize power and knowledge, shift wealth to the top, destroy communities and local infrastructure, create new wealth by rebuilding them, and leave human wreckage in its wake.

The Fed Did Indeed Cause the Housing Bubble by Catherine Austin Fitts

Global Research, March 22, 2009

This text by Catherine Austin Fitts is a response to an article entitled “The Fed Didn’t Cause the Housing Bubble” by Alan Greenspan, former Chairman of the Federal Reserve, published in the Wall Street Journal

In his article on your opinion page, “The Fed Didn’t Cause the Housing Bubble,” Alan Greenspan attributes the housing bubble to lower interest rates between 2002 and 2005. That’s amazing to me.

My company served as lead financial advisor to the Federal Housing Administration between 1994 and 1997. I watched both the Administration and the Federal Reserve aggressively implement the policies that engineered the housing bubble. These are described at my website and in my on-line book, Dillon Read & the Aristocracy of Stock Profits (http://www.dunwalke.com).

“Truth is not told; it is realized.” Author Unknown

Americans on Main Street have been urgently requested to take the plunge with Treasury Secretary Paulson and Ben Bernanke to bailout Wall Street’s bad debt to the tune of $700 billion and counting. We have been told that this must happen in order to not only stabilize Wall Street but the economic system itself. Or else! As of this writing 9/29/08, the House has just voted to reject the bailout.

The New York Times has posted a draft copy of the U.S. Treasury bail out bill.

As a practical matter, this bill gives the U.S. Secretary of the Treasury – the former chairman of one of the Wall Street firms most instrumental in creating the current financial “problem” or opportunity, depending on whose team you are on – the power to spend or donate $700 billion in whatever manner he chooses and to pay whomever he wants as much as he wants on whatever terms and conditions he wants to help him do so and give them access to any information he wants. Those who help are free to use that information without liability for any responsibilities related to governmental access.

The Truth & Lies of 9/11

Not sure exactly when this video came out.  It states “Jan 1, 2001” but that doesn’t make any sense as it would have to be after Sept 2001, then I read that it was “2 years on”, so that would be 2003.  Also read that it came out in 2004 (see Catherine Austin Fitts: Addicted to Drug Profits + Navigate The Falling Dollar (2004).  I posted this previously on my old blog in 2006.  ~ Lo

This pioneering, groundbreaking expose of 9-11, now two years old, painted a stark and accurate picture of our world today and TOMORROW. Mike’s new introduction “connects the dots.” Other search word: Conspiracy.

There is little doubt that our economy is based on the suffering of others. International corporations and drug warlords keep our economy afloat. This is achieved by raping the third world through proxy wars and governments, and infusing ill gotten wealth into our economy.

Do we care? Well not if it means that we lose our life style. Truth of the matter we should head for an economy meltdown before we can built a better society. The current speculative market, fiat monetary system, fractional banking (debt based economy) is not a healthy system. It is one that encourages greed and a dog eat dog world.

If you have any thoughts please post or a video response.
Thank you

Gold, GATA and the Turn to Higher Ground

The following is Catherine Austin Fitts’ presentation at the “GATA Goes to Washington” conference which took place last week in Washington D.C.

Thank you for coming and making “GATA Goes to Washington” and our efforts to press for full disclosure of the U.S. gold stores a success.

To accomplish our goals in a politically managed economy requires a new integration of political and market skills. From the vantage point of good old-fashioned politics, I want to talk about what we can do.

For some time, we have been experiencing an extraordinary centralization of economic and political power. Economic power. Political power. The two go hand in hand.

Food, Fuel, & Fascism: Their Election Or Your Life? By Carolyn Baker

Speaking Truth to Power
Thursday, 13 March 2008

After two years of managing the Truth To Power website and subsequent to many more years of researching domestic and geopolitical events and trends, it is chilling to witness so much of what “prophets” like Mike Ruppert, Matt Savinar, Catherine Austin Fitts, Richard Heinberg, Matt Simmons, Dmitry Orlov, myself, and many others have been forecasting for nearly a decade or longer. We are no longer prophets but truly historians, and yet I take no pleasure in the accuracy of these forecasts or in the fact that our dire predictions are unfolding before our eyes. When I use the word “chilling”, I mean just that, while at the same time, I feel sorrow that so many are yet still so comatose to the reality of the cataclysm that is manifesting around them. While I feel fear and sadness for them, I have no energy now to expend on them. As most readers of this site know, my life is all about preparation and building community in order to navigate the inevitable.

These are the last hours on the deck of the Titanic, and the chamber orchestra is now playing “Nearer My God To Thee” as the ship continues to take on barrels of water per second, and all but one or two lifeboats have been filled to capacity and launched into the open seas of escape from the capsizing horror-and with no guarantees that they will survive. Throngs of the doomed are drowning in the steerage compartments below-those indigent, third-class, “racially impure” masses of humanity that the “first-class”, who helped design the “unsinkable” vessel, kept locked away below the decks of obscene privilege and conspicuous consumption. Some say that economic depressions don’t affect the poor because they are already poor, but I’m certain that a black mother in the projects who can now give her kids only two meals a day will become acutely aware, as will her children, when she can only give them one.
