A Corporate Whore of Congress by Ed Ciaccio

(to the tune of “The Yellow Rose of Texas”)

I’m a corporate whore of Congress,
One of many Wall Street bought.
From voting for their greedy laws
I’m richer than I thought!
My colleagues here in Congress
Can’t help but all agree,
That a corporate whore of Congress
Is the only way to be!

2014 People's Climate March NYC 89

Image by Stephen Melkisethian via Flickr

Once upon a time in the US of A, the Plundering Class told their lackeys in the White House and Congress that huge war budgets would be necessary to provide the hundreds of thousands of unquestioning, expendable bodies to act as security guards to national (corporate) “interests” (as they called them) all over the planet, because those “national interests” would regularly be extracting precious natural resources which should have belonged to the people of all those countries, instead of to corporations and Wall Street; and those extractions would be exploiting local labor at slave wages with no workers’ rights and health protections, while polluting the water, ground and air of the very workers being exploited. And, of course, those ungrateful, anti-American workers would irrationally hate the US of A and its corporations which had gone to so much trouble to give them jobs. And so those corporate “interests” would need protection. Lots of protection. Continue reading

(to the music of “The Times They Are A-Changin’ ” by Bob Dylan)

Come gather ’round people who count earth as home,
And admit that the sea levels around us have grown,
And accept it that soon we’ll be drenched to the bone.
If our future to us is worth savin’,
Then we’d better start pressuring those with hearts of stone,
For the climes they are a-changin’. Continue reading

(to the music of “Goodnight Saigon” by Billy Joel)

We entered crying
From mothers’ safe wombs.
We struggled daily
To keep from our tombs.
And we learned fast
That life was tough,
So we were determined
To make it enough.

Menschenkette: Obama die rote Karte zeigen No War on Syria and Iran

According to many reports, the U.S., U.K.,and even France are preparing to soon (two weeks?) attack Syria with cruise missiles launched from U.S. & U.K. ships off the Syrian coast (to destroy Syrian command & control centers as well as Syrian anti-aircraft installations, including Russian-made missiles), then follow that up by aerial bombing, all to overthrow the Assad regime so a U.S. puppet regime can be installed, as we have done in Afghanistan, Iraq, Egypt, and tried in Libya.  Most U.S. media supports these plans and even enthusiastically calls for these attacks.

Soldiers die for corporate greed

Long time passing
Where have all the soldiers gone?
Long time ago
Where have all the soldiers gone?
Gone to graveyards every one
When will they ever learn?
When will they ever learn?

Global warming, dry land...

Environmentalist/Climate Catastrophe activist Bill McKibben’s campaign and web site www.350.org has a very specific, vital mission:

“350 means climate safety. To preserve our planet, scientists tell us we must reduce the amount of CO2 in the atmosphere from its current level of 392 parts per million to below 350 ppm. But 350 is more than a number—it’s a symbol of where we need to head as a planet.”

They say there’s profit to be made on Wall Street (on Wall Street).
That’s what the banksters & fraudsters, they all say (on Wall Street).
But when their schemes and bubbles burst,
It’s always us who get hurt the worst,

We’d gathered there to celebrate the start of the new life
Of my gentle older brother and his lovely young wife.

Corporate Greed

“War is a racket,” warned the retired Marine,
Veteran of wars, sick of what he’d seen.
Planned and ordered by the callous and mean,
It’s brutal and savage, and truly obscene.

“A gangster for capitalism” is what he became,
In his own words, years later, after his fame,
The book “War Is A Racket”, above his name,
Told how he was used in that deadly greed game.

An Attack On Iran’s Nuclear Facilities Would Be A Nuclear War by Ed Ciaccio

An attack on Iran’s nuclear facilities, by Israel, the United States, or both, would be a nuclear war for two important reasons:

1. The GBU-28 “bunker buster” bombs which would be used to destroy hardened Iranian nuclear sites use depleted uranium to penetrate concrete. This means lethal radioactive contamination from those exploding bombs would be spewed into the air, ground, and water of Iran, with long-term health consequences to all the people of Iran as well as those in surrounding regions. The people of Fallujah, Iraq, already suffer these horrible consequences from the criminal U.S. & NATO use of depleted uranium there, war crimes which remain unpunished.

President Obama: Stop the Wars!

Image by Dandelion Salad via Flickr

As the 2012 election draws near, this is what we should keep in mind:

1. Bush AND Obama are war criminals who have knowingly waged illegal wars of aggression in violation of the U.N. Charter, the Geneva Accords, and the Nuremberg Principles, all of which are part of U.S. law and the U.S. Constitution (which they swore to uphold) due to the Supremacy Clause (Article VI, Clause 2).
