I. Definitions and Questions
What is a liberal? What is a conservative?
In common use language “liberal” is synonymous with words like ‘generous’ as in “grandma is always very liberal with the gravy on her turkey”. Or it can mean ‘flexible’ as in “the club’s acceptance policy is very liberal”.
This video will deal with the Religion, the idealism and philosophy of the United States and specifically the clash of Natural Law and Divine Law before and after the Civil War and its impact it has on our society today.
Due to restraints I did not have time to leave the closing comments in Jefferson’s letter to John Holmes as mentioned in the video but its worth a read:

Senator McCain is using the old Rove tactic of attacking your opponents strong point and muddying a issue to cover up potential crimes. At the very minimum, John McCain has already broken the idealism of Public Campaign Finance by opting in to secure a loan and then trying to opt out when he mathematically locked up the GOP nomination.
Watch his comments carefully, he ALWAYS states that Obama’s promise was broken to the American people and specifically not to him. Thats because Senator Obama has from the start stipulated that a agreement must be made between the candidates to prevent undue outside influence from unregulated soft money and Political Action Committees (PACs).

The “Golden Voice of the Great Southwest”: Legendary Folk Musician, Activist Utah Phillips, 1935-2008
Utah Phillips, the legendary folk musician and peace and labor activist, has died at the age of seventy-three. Over the span of nearly four decades, Utah Phillips worked in what he referred to as “the Trade,” performing tirelessly throughout the United States, Canada and Europe. The son of labor organizers, Phillips was a lifelong member of the Industrial Workers of the World, known as the Wobblies. As a teenager, he ran away from home and started living as a hobo who rode the rails and wrote songs about his experiences. In 1956, he joined the Army and served in the Korean War, an experience he would later refer to as the turning point of his life. In 1968, he ran for the US Senate on the Peace and Freedom Party ticket. For the past twenty-one years he lived in Nevada City, where he started a nationally syndicated folk music radio show. He also helped found the Hospitality House homeless shelter and the Peace and Justice Center. We spend the hour with an interview with Phillips from January 2004.
