The Federal Reserve’s QE2 is being met with near universally condemnatory reviews. The Fed’s effort to buy up $600 billion in government bonds is being seen as a shot in the dark for the foundering Obama administration. With the “austerity-minded”, Tea Party influenced Republicans measuring the drapes and curtains, for new and improved cushy offices in the United States Capitol; Obama appears to be running an end-around the anticipated policy gridlock that these “preeminently qualified”, so-called stewards of the national public trust are widely anticipated to bring about.

A Mad Tea Party

It goes by many names neoliberalism, neoserfdom, libertarianism, globalization — Naomi Klein calls it corporatism in the Shock Doctrine — and third worldization, but it’s generally in the same ballpark insofar as the “remedies” and “therapies” and “fixes” that it pursues. The current incarnation of the uber rightist Tea Party seems to be drinking out of the same carafe as a lot of the folks that “liberally” push this sort of stuff; and ordinarily, what it portends for the overwhelming majority of any national population, are less than desirable results.

Fidel Castro: The New Fletcher Prouty? by Sean Fenley

“[The Internet] has put an end to secrets… We are seeing a high level of investigative journalism, that is within reach of the whole world.”

-Fidel Castro Ruz, First Secretary of the Communist Party (Cuba)

Those who have seen the JFK movie are, no doubt, intimately familiar with the ominous, deep ops know-it-all Mr. X. The role was, of course — played by the veteran actor Donald Sutherland — and the character was based upon the real life U.S. Army Colonel Fletcher Prouty. Another star of an Oliver Stone movie and military man, Fidel Castro, seems to be making his own attempt to be a kind of wide-ranging Mr. X of a certain variety, exposing hidden truth and subterranean information for the benefit of all of those who would care to hear. The Comandante seems to have gotten into the business of prognosticating events, exposing elite clandestine gatherings, and in general opining about the dark and shadowy forces that are coalescing behind closed doors.

Daniel Estulin gave an interview recently where he spoke about how the material that he was investigating was “really not about left and right”, the burgeoning world order that he uncovers — as put forward by the Bilderberg Group — it’s about people who “share the same financial ideas” according to Estulin. That’s odd, actually, because that sounds an awful lot like left and right, in this humble observer’s opinion. Those who share the same financial ideas, are generally not the rank and file workers, the poor and the underclass; in the United States, at least, those who have been virtually wholly dispossessed from the political system.

Peggy Noonan Seemingly Forgets About Her Role in the Reagan Administration by Sean Fenley

Where was Peggy Noonan in the 1980s? Because that’s what I was left wondering after reading her recent column in the Murdoch penny dreadful, the Wall Street Journal. The man whose syntax she penned, was perhaps the most integral player in our current state of national disrepair. If you crush the unions, eschew “low value” manufacturing jobs, pursue military Keynesianism, gut regulations of every sort and variety, redistribute wealth upward, and in general get the referees out of the way for the Fortune 500 and private enterprise; what result do you expect to get from that sort of a scenario? Ms. Noonan I hope you didn’t believe all that tripe that old Ronnie spewed to the American public. Don’t you know that was just for the benefit of all of those special interests, and profoundly corrupted individuals and organizations that raised him up there as their spokesperson? I would have thought you were in on the hoodwinking? The wool-over-the-eye-pulling?  One of the principle players in the “illustrious” flimflam? Apparently the joke was on you though, Ms. Noonan, because I’m not sure what you thought “Reaganosophy” was all about.

The mouthpiece for “New” Democratic president Barack Obama, apparently felt the need to take a shot at a sleeping dog that was out cold — and near death — and has probably been that way since at least the late 1960s, early 1970s. It would stand to reason that after decades of both sides of the aisle handing over the keys to the family vehicle, to all sorts of avaricious and rapacious, beastly corporate predators, that there might be some push back against the “New” Democratic ancien regime. Said mouthpiece, to the “New” Democratic ancien administration, cited a giveaway to the health insurance industry, and a toothless Wall Street “reform” bill; as achievements of the “New” Democratic ancien administration that should have assuaged “intransigent” progressive agitators.

BP: Fishies and Birdies Can Live in Oil Just as Well as Water by Sean Fenley (satire)

The BP oil corporation announced today that according to their scientists, engineers, and researchers — who apparently are smoking whatever their erstwhile “fearless” leader Hayward was imbibing — that fishies and birdies, and, indeed, all of God’s creepy, crawly sea creations can make do and subsist quite nicely soaking, bathing, and going about their daily, day-to-day routines and activities in water thoroughly contaminated with oil. Though oil has been known exclusively, before the present, to be at least as harmful to wildlife as the toxic dispersant Corexit, which BP sprayed willy-nilly all throughout the sensitive region of the Gulf; BP told the media at a press conference/media event that they held earlier this morning, that their research was showing them some rather altogether different results. They said they had come to this, previously never before considered, and extraordinarily nebulous conclusion, by observing sea creatures in a simulated oceanic environment at their research facilities in the U.K.

Still Waiting for Change/Godot to Get Here by Sean Fenley

Obama seems to be following in the footsteps of some of his ‘venerable’ predecessors as United States president and commander-in-chief. Men who piled up more than their fair share of body bags, with their time in the Oval Office; men such as Bill Clinton, Ronald Reagan and, of course, George W. ‘Junior’ Bush. As long as the U.S. empire continues to persist without radical structural changes, we can essentially be assured of no dove, or peacenik, or humanitarian as commander-in-chief. Obama has escalated illegal drone attacks in Afghanistan and Pakistan since his inauguration as president, his talk on Israel has changed, but he still continues to unquestioningly support the apartheid government, and the U.S. just gave its blessing to a death squad leader coming to power in Colombia — who has been celebrated as a ‘democrat’ and Colombia as a ‘role model’ by ‘mainstream’ news organizations. Change has undoubtedly come to Washington, and America is still; seemingly interminably, at war with Eurasia, and anyone that will help us kill or capture Goldstein, we consider to be an essential asset and friend.

Oh yes, the MSM is a psy-op. Read the European media, or media elsewhere, I’m fairly certain that there is a concerted effort to keep the American people in the dark. This may or may not be news to you, it probably shouldn’t be to anyone, but if Americans are preoccupied with bread and circuses — like American Idol and lost teenage schoolgirls — and can’t even point to the next locale, that they are going to bomb on an atlas or a map; then the powers that be have been successful.

For anyone who didn’t get the lost schoolgirl reference, I heard a comparison recently, that related the Natalie Holloway coverage to that of the current oil spill. The Holloway coverage, of course, dwarfed the coverage of the Louisiana environmental disaster, and it reminded me of what the ‘big’ story was before 9/11; which was, of course, Chandra Levy. Chandra Levy was not a teenage schoolgirl, but she was a young woman.

“We were always cautious about the triumph of President Obama. Early on, we began to take note of the truth, that the empire is here, alive and more threatening than ever.”  — Hugo Chavez Frias

It is said when you can’t beat ‘em, that you might as well make common cause with them, but in the case of President Hugo Chavez and the government of Venezuela this doesn’t seem to be the logical choice of the U.S. State Department, and the corporate ‘mainstream’ media at all. Since, the Obama State Department and its auxiliaries are incapable of debunking the unequivocal success of the Bolivarian revolution, and since the CIA’s forays into the Bolivarian Republic have been far from a success; the corporate MSM seems to be employing the strategy, that if you can’t beat ‘em, then you might as well throw a whole bunch of mud in their eye.

There seems to be a double standard in the application of the principles in the War on Terrorism. The inhuman acts that unbreakable allies perpetrate upon defenseless humanitarian aid givers, are apparently perfectly fine and good. It seems it is the activists’ word, versus the Likudnik government of Israel at this point, and the Obama administration — like finely tuned clockwork — appears to be siding with the latter of the two.

The Goldstone Report, of course, made us all acutely aware of the kind of treachery, that the state of Israel is capable of enacting upon a near defenseless people. Complete with using innocents as human shields, and firing illicit weapons at civilian targets, en route to an unconscionable loss of human life. This seems to be, more or less, just act II of the same old tired practice. So far as we know, these acts will keep coming, until the state of Israel falls out of favor; with it’s most trusted confidant — and benefactor — the United States regime.

As Emma Goldman put it, “Ignorance is the most violent element in society.” But when you conjoin ignorance with a population willing to go to war at a pin drop, you’ve got violence to the nth degree squared. Combine a massively overinflated military budget, with a salesman in a flight jacket, and you’ve got a more than successful war making machine.

The uninformed and dis-informed American public, equals a weapon of mass destruction. If the United States didn’t have these virulent munitions; the U.S. government could still pursue all manner of sordid acts and deeds. It’s the ‘brilliance’ of keeping so many millions of people, so hunkered down, and so deeply in the dark. You don’t need thought police, when you’ve essentially got a moribund, and asleep at the wheel press.

Reports are cascading in today, via the newswires, that George W. Bush has reputedly continued unabated in his perpetual free fall upward. A multitude of news outlets have apparently reported that Bush’s wife Laura, told a local news publication, that he had now bankrupted their palatial estate. Fresh off bankrupting the most powerful nation on the planet, George W. Bush has plummeted and plundered the resources of his eminently cosy Northern Texas home. What can one say, except that the man is less than a virtuoso with general competency, and in particular budgetary acumen and sophistication!

If one listens to the corporate media and/or ‘political mainstream’ — which one should never of course do — one might find that s/he is an extremist. If one is for peace, like Jesus of Nazareth; s/he might be an extremist. If one is for racial and economic justice, like Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.; s/he is probably an extreme radical. If one is for an economic bill of rights in this country, like the longest tenured president of the United States, Franklin Delano Roosevelt — to bring us more in touch with other civilized countries — s/he is almost undoubtedly against the free market and undeniably considered to be a recalcitrant Marxist agitator. This person in question is clearly just another one of the lunatic fringe in our society — probably a McVeigh or William Ayers sort, and far to the left of the ‘exceedingly liberal’ Obama.

A Mad Tea Party
by Helen Cox, used with permission

Call it the Dove Party, the Isolationist Party, the Republic not Empire Party, the Revitalize America Party what have you, but the Tea Partiers haven’t put together anything close to some of the anti-Iraq War efforts during the presidency of George W. Bush. The Tea Partiers would like to present themselves as the true heirs of the American revolution, but it was George Washington who warned against entangling alliances; and Thomas Jefferson who, in his inaugural address, called for, “peace, commerce, and honest friendship” with all the nations of the world.
