Cosmic Irony [is] the idea that fate, destiny, or a god controls and toys with human hopes and expectations. It also [encompasses] the belief that the universe is so large and man so small that the universe is indifferent to the plight of man.

“When we first learned of the opportunity to get these supplies directly to the people of Gaza via the Freedom Flotilla, we asked our partner NGOs in Gaza what we could send that would matter most to them, given the 3 year-long blockade. They asked Americans to send messages to children, along with backpacks, sports equipment, and cement to build a kindergarten.”- Donna Baranski-Walker, Executive Director of the Rebuilding Alliance.
In 2006 Father Manuel, the parish priest at the Latin Church and school in Gaza informed the world: Continue reading →
On July 9, 2010, Nicholas D. Kristoff wrotefrom the West Bank agricultural village of Bilin “Waiting for Gandhi” which was published in the New York Times:
“Despite being stoned and tear-gassed on this trip, I find a reed of hope here. It’s that some Palestinians are dabbling in a strategy of nonviolent resistance that just might be a game-changer…But then a group of Palestinian youths began to throw rocks at Israeli troops…Soon after, the Israeli forces fired volleys of tear gas at us, and then charged.
[Oak Ridge, Tennessee] Priests and nuns, atheists, anarchist and one clown were among the 23 arrested by the State and 13 by the Federal Government for nonviolently resisting Nuclear Weapons at Y-12 this morning.
Those facing State charges were arrested for obstructing the road way, one for failing to obey a police officer and Federal charges are for trespassing.
Before the nonviolent action that lead to the arrests the crowd made commitments to bear witness every Sunday at 5:55 PM at the site for a vigil and sing Keep Your Eyes on the Prize and the names of all who offered themselves against the insanity of nuclear war will be named out-loud until every one of them has been freed.
Eighty-nine-year old Journalist Helen Thomas has taken a lot of heat for daring to address the fact that any Jew without any historical connection to Israel is encouraged to settle-as in colonize-upon legally owned Palestinian land.
I learned about, Aliyah, which means ‘going up,’ during my first of seven trips to Israel and occupied Palestine in June 2005 from an American Jewess who had taken the deal and she informed me: Continue reading →

I am an American without a drop of Arab blood within me and my org has been an endorsing org of the FREEDOM FLOTILLA, since I learned about it on the final day of the 27th annual American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee’s Washington, D.C. Conference on 10 June 2007.
On the first day of that conference, I learned that among the invited speakers who did NOT show or send a representative were Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama and the Republican National Committee. Continue reading →

I “got the message this morning, the one that was sent to me” [Bob Dylan] and although the topic of the conversation with the Editor of Salem-News.com was not on this topic, what Tim King wrote read like the voice of God speaking to me: Continue reading →
I never cease to be amazed at the power of the human spirit to survive. During my last visit to Gaza in October 2008 I was amazed and deeply moved by the power of the people I witnessed. In a triumph of hope over adversity and tremendous suffering, love still abides.
