The International Solidarity Movement (ISM) is a Palestinian led movement committed to solving issues between Israel and Palestine. Huwaida Arraf is one of the co-founders of the group and was filmed giving a speech at San Diego State University. During her speech, Huwaida talks about the history of the Palestinian people and the ISM’s role in trying to aid them. Also mentioned in her speech is the ISM’s attempts in sending aid to Gaza by boat. In one of their more recent voyages the group sent a ‘flotilla’ of ships to gaza that was intercepted by the Israeli Navy. During the interception civilians were shot and killed on one of the ISM’s boats which lead to an investigation by the United Nations.

This week marks the second anniversary of among the most savage criminal slaughters of human life in long memory. The 522 hour indiscriminate carnage, “Cast Lead”  that killed 1,417 Palestinians, mostly civilians, 352 of them children, injuring for life more than 5,300 , indicts  Israel as well as those countries that continue to supply it weapons, diplomatic cover and to enforce Israel’s  illegal siege on sealed Gaza.

Washington’s pathetic capitulation to Israel while pleading for a meaningless three-month freeze on settlement expansion—excluding Arab East Jerusalem—should go down as one of the most humiliating moments in U.S. diplomatic history.

In September the last settlement freeze ended, leading the Palestinians to cease direct talks with Israel. Now the Obama administration, desperate to lure Israel into a new freeze and thus revive the talks, is grasping at invisible straws—and lavishing gifts on a far-right Israeli government.

Israeli warships have intercepted a Jewish aid boat heading for the Gaza Strip to break the crippling blockade of the impoverished territory.

“Ten Israeli warships forced the boat to head for (the Israeli port) of Ashdod by force, but without raiding the ship,” Amjad al-Shawa, a Gaza-based organizer told AFP.

“They surrendered because they were surrounded. They had no choice,” he further explained.
