planting-together-300x194Dear friends,

On the 28th of March, 2014, at about 4 p.m., the Afghan Peace Volunteers heard a loud explosion nearby. For the rest of the evening and night, they anxiously waited for the sound of rocket fire and firing to stop. It was reported that a 10 year old girl, and the four assailants, were killed. The Afghan Peace Volunteers in Kabul, with British and Swedish friends

Dear friends,

“The political and economic mafia of Afghanistan and the world run this country with their guns and bombs,” says Abdulhai, a 17 year old Afghan Peace Volunteer. “We the people are rather helpless, unless we stand together.”

Abdulhai’s sentiment helps to describe what is needed in the Borderfree movement: ordinary people of our human family from all walks of life and from every country standing together to build non-violent alternatives under the same blue sky (symbolized by the Borderfree Blue Scarves), relating and working for a better, more equal world.

Enough! Stand for Peace and Justice!

This video was filmed as we kept each other company nearby the attacks on the Afghan Parliament building, the Parliament being one of seven separate locations in Kabul where the ‘Taliban’ launched 18 hours of co-ordinated attacks on the 15th of April 2012.

In the video as it was in our hearts that day, the senseless sounds of the fighting could be ‘felt’.

Stop the Wars!

Dear friends of ordinary 99 percent Afghans,

We thank you for your love and your hands and feet, in organizing for the upcoming Chicago protests!

In these killing days, we in Afghanistan do not expect the interests of people to triumph over self-interests. But your efforts prove that another world is possible.

Love or Enmity in Afghanistan? Are Pushtoons, Tajiks, Hazaras, Uzbeks and other ethnic groups in Afghanistan doomed by geopolitics to hate one another? Is non-violence an ‘obsolete’ concept for Afghans? Can economic self-reliance be built out of a globally dominant capitalism? Is genuine love possible in Afghanistan? Can the Afghan Peace Volunteers find peace in Afghanistan?

democracynow.org – We go to Kabul to speak with an Afghan peace activist about the shooting spree by an U.S. Army sergeant in Afghanistan, which killed 16 Afghan civilians, nine of them children. Calls for a more rapid withdrawal of troops from Afghanistan have escalated after the U.S. soldier reportedly walked more than a mile from his base, breaking in to three separate houses to attack families as they slept. Dear friends,

The approximately 1000 ordinary people sailing with the Gaza Freedom Flotilla II ought to stop us in our ordinary tracks at least for a moment.

Why are ordinary people doing this for others not related to them?

Why are ordinary people supporting these freedom sailors?

Why are a few governments against this non-violent human solidarity?

On Saturday, March 30th, the Leadership Council of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan under its nom de guerre, The Taliban, declared the launch of this year’s spring military operations (the “Spring Offensive”) against the “invading Americans”, their foreign allies, internal supporters, high ranking officials of the Karzai government, including cabinet members and lawmakers, as well as heads of foreign and local companies who work with the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF). In response to, and in anticipation of, the Taliban’s announcement, NATO officials in Brussels have advised that international forces in Afghanistan have tightened security, security services employed by “westerners” working in Afghanistan have issued lockdowns and travel restrictions, the Afghan government has tightened security across the country and security has been increased at military bases.
