In 1935, Sinclair Lewis wrote a satirical novel entitled It Can’t Happen Here. In the book, a democratically elected President transforms the country into a totalitarian, ruthless regime, relying upon patriotic rhetoric and fear to dominate and control a docile populace.

When did the coup happen here, and how did we miss it? I always imagined military coups to occur when jack-booted generals marched into the town square in front of columns of heavily armed soldiers. Pinochet, Mussolini, Franco come to mind – we’ve all seen the pictures. But here in the United States, nobody even has a clue as to when the Pentagon, and its secret policing, “anti-terrorist” organizations took control of the U.S. government and its people.

In 1957, Joanne Woodward won the Best Actress Oscar for her captivating portrayal of Eve White, a woman suffering from what was then described as Multiple Personality Disorder. The movie, entitled The Three Faces of Eve, captured the contradiction of sick individuals who suffered from that type of schizophrenia. The Eve of the movie actually possessed many fragmented personalities. It should be obvious at this point that the President of the United States, Barack Obama, suffers from the same disorder.
