“WASHINGTON -(Dow Jones)- World Bank President Robert Zoellick Thursday said he hopes the institution will have a role rebuilding Libya as it emerges from current unrest.
Zoellick at a panel discussion noted the bank’s early role in the reconstruction of France, Japan and other nations after World War II.
“Reconstruction now means (Ivory Coast), it means southern Sudan, it means Liberia, it means Sri Lanka, I hope it will mean Libya,” Zoellick said.

While we send our love and support to those so horribly impacted by the earthquake and tsunami, we must not allow this shock to divert us from the tsunami headed our way. I don’t know about you, but I can’t but help in feeling hopeless with all that’s going on in the world. After reading two very important books by author and activist, John Perkins (Confessions of an Economic Hit Man and The Secret History of the American Empire), the realization that the same terrible actions by the “corporatocracy” continue unabated. This link between these huge criminal corporations and government are at the core of most of the ills of the world. Perkins remains hopeful because of organizations that are focused on change. He feels we still have a chance, but writes that unless all the children of the world have the same opportunities, change will not occur. Continue reading
