When RyanCare-TrumpCare finally ended up face-down in the swimming pool, triumphalist Democrats whooped and partied and congratulated themselves on defeating the Trump-Ryan monstrosity.

But deep in their counting house, counting their gold, three brothers cackled with private jubilation.

Butlers Selling the Public’s Silver…. A Dress Rehearsal for Hillary?

The Koch Brothers are the closest thing the United States has to Russia’s oligarchs. They fuse ownership of the economy and state, using the latter to enrich themselves while making private gains through the public’s losses. Their idea of a “market economy” is to buy government officials and the assets they privatize at giveaway prices. Continue reading

Save the Post Office Rally

Postal and community activists struggling to save the U.S. Postal Service from privatization need to know who they are fighting against.

The Postal Service was established in 1775. It needed government administration as it was so important for communication.

Even in today’s age of Internet communication, 20 percent of the U.S. population lack Internet access and depend on the post office for bills, bank statements and letters. (Gallup World, Aug. 4) The Postal Service is still essential for the $1.3-trillion mailing industry.

Nobody to the left of Karl Rove would consider sending a petition to the Koch brothers to do anything that was in the interest of the people of this country. That’s because everyone realizes that these greedy, vicious dogs restrict their actions to stealing from the poor and causing whatever harm they can to the largest number of people.

Similarly, nobody in his/her right mind would send letters to General Betray-Us, McChrystal or any of the Pentagon power-brokers that define our foreign policy, asking them to stop murdering defenseless civilians around the world.  Continue reading

The Keystone XL pipeline has received a lot of attention due to the potential environmental impact the project could have on land across America. TransCanada, the company behind the construction is now being accused of lying to land owners. Land owners are claiming the firm said crude oil would be transported through the pipes and not nearly solid product extracted from tar sands and now Michael Bishop, one of the land owners, has filed a lawsuit against the oil giant. A judge has halted construction of the pipeline on Bishops property and Greg Palast an investigative journalist gives us his take on the never ending controversy. Continue reading

Wisconsin Teachers Protest

On July 11, 2008, Douglas Bullock, then a resident of N7523 Summit Rd, in Plymouth, WI, wrote a check for $2.31 to new Political Action Committee (PAC) in Wisconsin.  This was the opening contribution to the Koch Industries Inc. PAC, a political force that would, in two short years help turn the political landscape of the state upside down.  Nationally, the Koch Brothers are known as the funders of the Tea Party movement and in Wisconsin as the patrons of the successful campaign of current Governor Scott Walker.  However, their political agenda is far grander than just one candidate or even one political “movement.”  The Koch’s are capitalist entrepreneurs on a grand scale and as such are intent on crafting a political environment that best suits their economic designs.  In other words, they mean to re-shape the world into their own image one politician, one community and one Statehouse at a time.

Voter Empowerment – Not a New Party by William John Cox

If nothing else, the election of 2010 has taught us that a “third” political party is not the answer. Like the two existing major parties, it too would simply become another political commodity to be purchased by the corporations and wealthy elite for their own purposes, rather than serving the interests of ordinary voters. Political salvation will come when the voters of every party decide to exercise, rather than dissipate, their power.

Political parties have been around ever since the founding of the United States, indeed from the time of ancient Greece and perhaps earlier. There will always be legitimate differences of opinion about the extent and role of government, and the give and take of those differences are the foundation of democracy – at least as long as voters are informed and they are not being manipulated by insidious forces.
