The President of the USA, aka, Able Servant of Empire, claims that his planned assault on Syria will be “limited” and he won’t order any “boots on the ground” as if he is angling for praise from the almost non-existent antiwar movement and/or to prove that he really earned that Noble Peace Prize!

I am here on the steps of the capitol building to announce that I am running for governor of California in 2014 with the Peace and Freedom Party. One of the goals of this campaign is to break the stranglehold on this state’s politics by the two parties of, by and for, the corporations and the 1% because I am devoted to improving the lives of the working and poor classes and protecting our precious and compromised environment.

Hello Fox Squirrel

Image by Dandelion Salad via Flickr

Long before it was “cool,” our family home in Norwalk, Ca (where my three youngest children were born) had solar space and water heating. We recycled and combined errands to try to use the least amount of fossil fuel as possible. Still, in California, (as in most other places in our nation), it’s almost impossible to live and work without a car: reliable, cheap, and useful public transportation just isn’t here.

However, when my son, Casey, was killed in Iraq in a war waged for the major, international oil companies and other profiteers, my opposition to fossil fuel usage grew along with my guilt for my own oil gluttony.

There are ninety million reasons why you should vote for Socialism in America this year and every one of them is a pulsing, breathing, human reason!

You must either vote for or against your own material interests as a wealth producer; there is no political purgatory in this nation of ours, despite the desperate efforts of so-called Progressive capitalist politicians to establish one. Continue reading

Occupy May Day 2012

Just found out today (August 4, 2012) that Roseanne Barr and I were given the confidence and nomination of the Peace and Freedom Party of California at the nominating convention. Even though Roseanne is Roseanne and I have been a member of the party for almost four years, now, the nomination wasn’t in the bag—there were some high hurdles we had to leap first and we did it (with our great, if not small, team) in less than a week!

There is a common misperception that California is a “liberal” state—of course there are liberal to radical pockets, but most of the state is just pro-established, conservative, politics.

In general, you will find a bastion of the center-left in San Francisco where “pragmatism” really means, “I like the status quo, so don’t mess with it;” and center-right to far right leanings can be found in the central valley and near any one of our numerous major military bases housed in the Golden (for war profiteers) State.

(SOAPBOX #120) – Cindy remarks:  Journalist/activist, Chris Hedges, caused quite a stir this past week when he wrote a column for Truthdig saying, in essence, that the “black bloc anarchists” were killing the Occupy movement.  The response was immediate and sometimes fierce.  Although, I agree with Chris that violence for the sake of violence is counter-productive, it’s been my experience that the violence usually begins with law enforcement, with little, if any, provocation.  Continue reading
