‘[For us] it is one thing to remain a good friend, but too close an embrace will lead Americans and others to resurrect the “deputy sheriff” tag. The Americans have always put their own interests first and will continue to do so; we should follow their example. American interests will not always be the same as Australian and vice versa. The bottom line, however, is the domestic political one. Australians are afraid of the outside world and convinced of their inability to cope with it. Any Australian government which suggested that we do without a great and powerful friend to look after us would have to consider the electoral implications.’ — Source: Cavan Hogue — fmr. It’s been revealed that the U.S. government is secretly spying on its citizens using an advanced surveillance programme. Washington’s Real Agenda is Not Global Security, It’s Regime Change

A “surge” in US secret surveillance of Iran’s nuclear programme over the past three years, involving “hundreds” of spy drone flights, has not produced the slightest evidence to support Washington’s much-vaunted fears that the Islamic Republic is building a nuclear weapon.

The complete lack of gun, never mind smoking gun, comes days before the resumed P5 + 1 talks in Istanbul in which the US-led Western nuclear powers will no doubt try to browbeat Iran over its entirely legal and legitimate civilian nuclear programme.

FISA - illegal domestic spying - feb 2001, BEF...

I would like you to consider the following hypothetical case: There is a court in X county of Y state with eleven judges. During the past one year 1500 cases of various big corporations vs. the people have been brought before these judges. In every single case, the judges have ruled pro corporation. In every single case. 1500 rulings favoring corporations. 1500 orders against the people. Wouldn’t you expect to see a major uproar and media coverage in this hypothetical case? Wouldn’t you expect that the judges and their lives would become intensely scrutinized? Wouldn’t you suspect some sort of bribery and or extortion in play here?
