Congressman Dennis Kucinich (D-OH) is circulating the following letter to Members of Congress in advance of expected votes on Tuesday:

Dear Colleague,

WikiLeaks released 92,000 previously secret documents (any one of which presumably could be a case for a congressional hearing) which demonstrate that Congress has not been given a true account of the war by either the military or by two administrations.

We cannot and must not ignore the latest documented evidence from WikiLeaks now circulating on the Internet for the entire world to see:

Looks like the House will vote again (probably Tuesday) on the $33 billion Afghan war supplemental bill. It recently passed the Senate and has to go back to the House since the one previously passed by the House is different from the Senate version.

After the revelations yesterday by WikiLeaks one would presume that the Congress would be highly embarrassed about its total lack of oversight of these wars. Both parties have handed over zillions of dollars to the Pentagon for what is now widely known is a dead-end street.

Two things are assured this coming week. One is that Arizona will do its best to put into practice its controversial anti-immigration bill. The other is that a federal district court will rule whether that law is constitutional.

The New Pentagon Papers: WikiLeaks Releases 90,000+ Secret Military Documents Painting Devastating Picture of Afghanistan War

It’s one of the biggest leaks in US military history. More than 90,000 internal records of US military actions in Afghanistan over the past six years have been published by the whistleblower website WikiLeaks. The documents provide a devastating portrait of the war in Afghanistan, revealing how coalition forces have killed hundreds of civilians in unreported incidents, how a secret black ops special forces unit hunts down targets for assassination or detention without trial, how Taliban attacks have soared, and how Pakistan is fueling the insurgency. We host a roundtable discussion with independent British journalist Stephen Grey; Pentagon Papers whistleblower, Daniel Ellsberg; former State Department official in Afghanistan, Matthew Hoh; independent journalist Rick Rowley; and investigative historian Gareth Porter. Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez denounced this Saturday US plans to attack his country and overthrow his government. During a ceremony celebrating the 227th birthday of Independence hero Simon Bolivar, Chavez read from a secret memo he had been sent from an unnamed source inside the United States.

“Old friend, I haven’t seen you in years. As I said to you in my three prior letters, the idea remains the generation of a conflict on your western border”, read Chavez from the secret missive.

“The latest events confirm all, or almost all, of what those here discussed as well as other information that I have obtained from above”, the letter continued.
