Naomi Wolf discusses the fascist shift in the United States, how the state of our liberties has been getting worse under the Obama administration, and how President Obama has assumed the same position as Bush on States Secrets Privilege, unlawful detention and torture, and other similar assaults on our liberties. Ms. Wolf talks about the deplorable state of our two-party system and alternative approaches, the hypocritical silence of liberal antiwar activists, the need for new grassroots institutions and approaches to take back our civil liberties, and more.

Naomi Wolf is an author, activist and political consultant. She is known as an avid advocate of feminist causes and progressive politics, with a more recent emphasis on arguing that there has been a deterioration of democratic institutions in the United States. In The End of America: A Letter of Warning to a Young Patriot, Wolf takes a historical look at the rise of Fascism, outlining the 10 steps necessary for a Fascistic group (or government) to destroy the democratic character of a nation-state and subvert the social/political liberty previously exercised by its citizens. The book details how this pattern was implemented in Nazi Germany, Fascist Italy, and elsewhere, and analyzes its emergence and application in American political affairs since the September 11 attacks.

  3. Natureboy,

Besides spewing irrelevant, irreverent, illogical, and uncivil ad hominem slurs, what the hell are you good for?

The similarities between our present day path and Germany’s path to a fascist dictatorship in the early 1930’s are apparent for all to see. The only difference is Germany did in one year what is taking the US to do in ten, and instead of Hitler, we have Wall Street pulling the strings.

At this point we are literally one law away from losing the rest of our Constitutional rights, which would indeed make us a fascist dictatorship.

    • “One law away from losing the rest of our Constitutional rights” ???

Show me that one viable law, cite a reference to any law proposed in any house or branch threatening a coup against the constitution?

This is paranoia paralleling the derangement of white-nationalist militians.

NONE of dear Naomi’s 10 steps to fascism are domestically relevant at the moment, with all due respect to their pertinence back then and prior.

The problem remains Botch’s wars, and not a single TPP has any complaint, tax-wise or otherwise, about that.

The problem with the feds is not domestic fascism, it’s that the populace, in their paranoia, lost track of what their problem really was and remains.

      The problem is the people.

  4. Oh no, Naomi, please, imagine living in Guatemala under Efrain Rios Mont before you rehash this domestic fascism scare-commercial. This is not McCarthy, Pol-Pot, Stalin, hitler nor Pinochet/Franco/Mussolini, nor even close (nor any time soon).

Just because you’re gorgeous doesn’t mean you get to be paranoid and postulate nonsense in order to put your pretty face on PR. They have mini-skirted blonds who do this stuff on FOX, you really wannabe one of those??

The people here have decisively chosen their policy, all by themselves, exactly as designed, without coercion. They’ve refused to dissent blatant crimes of war for which they voted, and that was absolutely their democratic choice.

Let’s blame the proper party, the amerigoon populace. Nothing was mandated, otherwise Botch wouldn’t have been so popular that the election was stolen a second time.

Please, Naomi, put your beautiful brain (and sundry other beautiful parts) to better use and motivate people to not tilt at these paranoid windmills, but to instead dissent the reality: Pull out of foreign wars and everything will be far better all the way around.

You know better gurlfreng! Celebrity isn’t worth this bizarre manufactured myth, and definitely neither are book sales!
